Snow, who is best known for his history shows such as Battlefield Britain and his online history channel and podcast site History Hit, will be teaming up with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova for the festive special.

The 44-year-old admitted he was “completely terrified” of going on the dance floor but said he had always wanted to learn to dance and thought it was a “now or never” opportunity.

Nugent, 52, has been a co-host on ` Breakfast for the past 20 years and became a regular fixture in 2021.

For the special, she swaps the famous red sofa for the dance floor, where she works with Italian dancer Graziano Di Prima.

She said: “I’m thrilled and a little bit scared to be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

“I hope the jury is friendly and full of Christmas spirit.

“And I hope everyone watching at home will enjoy a bit of Strictly magic on Christmas night.”
