Many celebrities have children who make almost as much headlines as they do. Beyoncé fans have followed Blue Ivy’s sassy antics since birth, Kim Kardashian’s fun shenanigans with daughter North West often trend on social media, and honestly, Rihanna fans can’t wait for their son to join the beloved celebrity’s crusade -Kids joins . Some celebrities are so famous that even having their baby bumps photographed in an Instagram post is enough to break the internet for a day.

It’s hard to imagine the work it takes for celebrities to juggle fame and parenthood. There are some celebrities who are not yet ready to take this step or do not want to take it at all. Some celebrities are actively choosing not to be parents, and their reasoning is perfectly understandable. Here’s a look at a few celebrities with practical reasons for not being parents.

Insecure co-creator Issa Rae spoke to Self magazine about how having children would impact her success as a black woman in Hollywood.

“Women, especially black women — unless you’re Viola Davis or Angela Bassett — you have a window where people still want to see you and see what you can do … I want to do as much as I can as long as.” I still can. I know it’s not the right mentality to think kids are holding you back, but I feel that way.” Rae said.

The WWE Star had a revealing response after Drew Barrymore hinted on The Drew Barrymore Show that he would be a great dad.

“I don’t think just because you could be good at something doesn’t give me a strong enough reason to do it,” Cena told Barrymore. “You have to have passion for that. You have to have fuel for that. It’s like saying to someone, “Man, you know you’re pretty good with your hands. You would make a great carpenter.”

Oprah Winfrey has been very vocal about her decision not to have children. The media mogul told The Hollywood Reporter that when it came to juggling her career and potential children, it was the kids who ended up paying the price.

“If I had kids, my kids would hate me,” she told the magazine. “They would have ended up on the Oprah show and talked about me; because something [in my life] should have suffered, and they probably would have.”

When Fleetwood Mac frontwoman Stevie Nicks saw her “reflection in the snowy hills,” there were no children in it. The singer told InStyle in 2002 that she chose her career over motherhood.

“It’s like, ‘Do you want to be an artist and a writer or a wife and a lover?’ Having kids changes your focus. I don’t want to go to PTA meetings.” Nicks said.

Miley Cyrus’ decision not to have children appears to be environmentally friendly. The Hannah Montana star opened up to Elle Magazine in 2019 about her thoughts on having children.

“We’re being handed a shitty planet and I refuse to pass that on to my kid. Until I feel like my child would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing him in another person to care,” Cyrus said.

Tracee Ellis Ross is shifting her priorities and perspective on bringing children into the world. The Black Ish actress spoke to the Times in 2018 and shared her truth about choosing not to procreate.

“…and people snap back, ‘Well, that’s the purpose of the human species, reproduction.’ And I’m like, ‘I think there’s a lot of babies, isn’t that part of what’s going wrong, there’s too many?’ Some people could work to make the world a better place, or just be happy.” said Ross.

“We don’t have to be married or mothers to be complete. We can determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves. Yes, I may someday be a mom… But I don’t aspire to motherhood because I feel incomplete in some ways, as our celebrity news culture would have us all believe,” Aniston wrote.
