Whether you realize it or not, Photoshop plays a huge role in the entertainment industry — probably more than we think. And the preferred target of Hollywood and the media’s Photoshop and retouching programs tends to be women’s faces and bodies, no matter how impossibly perfect they may look to begin with. We’ve seen the mental health damage (especially among young people) of constantly looking at retouched photos, and it’s clear that this trend has unhealthily shifted beauty standards, making them almost impossible to achieve . However, many actresses have spoken out against having their real bodies altered on screen in their films and TV shows and have refused to allow retouching on their projects – and we absolutely love that.

These actresses — like Jamie Lee Curtis, Keira Knightley, and Kate Winslet — are fed up with seeing their frames shrunk, their wrinkles and rolls smoothed, and their image used to look like they know they don’t appear before the camera. These women did what they had to do, through public outcry, contract stipulations, and open discussions with the media, to ensure their unretouched bodies made it onto film and television screens, and audiences everywhere are better off seeing what the A real woman’s body actually looks like it does on camera.
