Celebrities who regretted going naked for TV and movies

Mary-Louise Parker said she wished she hadn’t filmed a completely nude scene for her series Weeds and even argued with the director about it at the time. “I didn’t think I had to be naked,” she said. “I argued with the director about it and now I’m bitter. I knew it would be on the internet: “Mary-Louise shows her big nipples.” I wish I hadn’t done that. I was goaded into it.”

Helen Mirren has said that she always hated doing nude scenes but did so because she didn’t want to appear “uptight”. “I’ve always had a problem with doing nudity. I hated it! However, I hated the fact that I hated it. It’s never a pleasant thing,” she said. “It’s always shameful.”

Natalie Portman started by saying that she doesn’t necessarily regret filming naked, but she hates how the footage was misused and ended up on porn sites. “I don’t really regret it. “It’s more because I don’t like when things are misused, like when you create something as part of a story and then part of it ends up on a porn site,” she said. “It should be a dramatic scene and part of a story. This really makes me angry. It’s inevitable and I should know what’s happening, but…”

Amanda Seyfried has largely decided against filming nude, having already filmed nude in one of her previous films. “I’m 19 and I walk around with no underwear on – are you kidding me? “How did I let this happen?” she said. “Oh, I know why: I was 19, and I didn’t want to upset anyone, and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.” She even said she wished she could have shown up at a time when intimacy coordinators were required on set.

While Viola Davis didn’t particularly regret filming nude, she did draw the line at sex scenes in general after once injuring herself on set. “I told them no more sex scenes,” she explained. “They threw me against the wall in the first season and I threw my back out for two weeks – and my hip! So I hobbled around for two weeks and said, ‘No more walls.'”

While filming Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone actually had no idea how much nudity would be seen on screen during her interrogation scene. “When we made it, it was supposed to be an innuendo, and the director said, ‘We see the white of your underwear, I want you to take them off.’ And I say, “I don’t want you to see anything, and he says, “No, no, you won’t see that.” So I gave him the underwear, put it in the pocket of his shirt, and he said, “Now look at the monitor…” Back then… it wasn’t like it is today where everything was in high resolution and I looked. “You really couldn’t see anything on the monitor,” she explained. “So when I saw it in the theater with a few other people, I thought: [in shock].”

Gordon Ramsay said he regretted filming a nude shower scene for his series Hotel Hell. “One thing I really regret is throwing my ass in the shower,” he said. “Because of the secret recordings, like you, I had to shower in the morning. I know. I’m sorry.”

Jessica Brown Findlay said she didn’t know she could say “no” when she was asked to film topless in “Albatross.” “To be honest, Albatross was naive and didn’t know I could say no. I had no idea what was going to happen and thought I was going to be shot in the back,” she said. She also appeared nude in “Labyrinth” and found the experience “very strange.” She added: “The idea that actresses would work out in the gym for a thousand hours beforehand… I drank beer and ate burgers. But actually I wouldn’t do it again.”

Taylor Lautner had to negotiate for fewer shirtless scenes in the Twilight films. “There was definitely some negotiation, oh yeah. There was more.” [shirtless scenes] If I read the original script, you can trust me,” he said. “Everyone on set, the crew, the cast wear clothes; Bundle of clothes. And I’m just chilling there naked.

Kate Winslet said she “wishes [she] hadn’t shown as much flesh in “Titanic,” but said she felt like she had “so much to prove” as a young actress at the time.

Ultimately, Ben Stiller was uncomfortable with his character’s nude scene in “Along Came Polly,” and director John Hamburg reportedly agreed to cut the scene entirely if audiences didn’t find it funny. After the scene finally appeared in the film, Ben said: “I later found out that I could have had a bottom double – but no one had bothered to tell me.” He later said he wished he would have used a body double for this scene.
