SALT LAKE CITY – A red carpet full of celebrities marked the opening of a “magical” room at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City led by Ryan Seacrest.
Utah is now home to the 14th Seacrest Studios, a space dedicated to creativity in a hospital that treats thousands of children each year.
“It symbolizes excitement, energy and hope and I think for the patients, this is the room where they can go and be the boss,” Seacrest said. “You don’t have to listen to anyone there.”
The room is equipped with studio microphones, a green screen, cameras for broadcasting shows, games, call-ins and other media devices.
“The patients get to make all the decisions, they have all the fun, they'll learn things and get inspired, and I think they'll meet some really cool people in the studios too,” Seacrest noted.
Celebrities Miles Teller, Andy Grammar, Zachary Levi and Seacrest's sister Meredith celebrated the innovative space at Tuesday's grand opening.
Even more important than the famous faces who attended the celebratory event is the impact the studio will have for years to come.
For patients like Payson Hinkley, the space is a way to bring joy while navigating the challenge of a hospital stay.
“I just feel like it’s really going to make a difference for the patients here,” he said. “It was really hard when I was in the hospital, but to see that there's something else that makes kids happy, so it's just one more thing that makes these days a little less sad.”
Hinkley said he looks forward to using the green screen to spread joy and positivity to other patients.
The studio's opening comes more than a year after it was announced. Seacrest shared the big news while hosting LIVE with Kelly and Ryan.
