Former actress and television host Nida Yasir recently took over as guest chair on host Shaista Lodhi's podcast where she addressed celebrities who criticize morning shows for their content. Nida described such remarks as disingenuous and hypocritical, claiming that her shows were not meant to appeal to celebrities.

“My husband is a director, so I hear stories from theater sets where actors often sit together and disparage morning shows,” the host revealed. “I've resigned a few times and the same people who criticized my morning show called management to keep me as host.”

The Nadaaniyaan actress clarified that her shows are meant for the general public. “We don’t do celebrity morning shows. We do this for the public,” she explained. Nida explained the underlying hypocrisy of such reactions, emphasizing that these same critics rely on the popularity of morning shows to market their brands when the opportunity arises.

The Good Morning Pakistan host continued, “When these same celebrities want to promote their brands, they call us and ask us to invite them to our shows.” She reiterated the target audience of her content and clarified, “I do shows for my Audience. No matter what anyone says, I am sincere with my audience.”

Nida pointed out the criticism that certain segments of her morning show receive despite her significant viewership, remarking firmly: “If they want a wedding week, I'll let them. If they want to see makeup [segments]. I will show them this because my channel has engaged me for the audience. So I won't think, 'Nida doesn't like makeup' or 'Nida doesn't like wedding week'.”

Earlier, an episode of Nida's morning show caused a stir on social media for highlighting the societal shock and scrutiny that job-seeking men face when their marriage proposals are brought home to potential partners. The unrealistic expectation of finding a young, settled man was criticized and the need for a more pragmatic perspective was emphasized.

She pointed out that societal expectations and criticism also extend to men, who may have difficulty finding stable employment despite their educational qualifications. “Women are certainly teased,” she said, “but a boy gets seriously injured when he looks for a job after his studies, his career is not stable – he also has to endure teasing… He endures it too.” Taunts in this society, not just women.”
