Lewis Hamilton, Shaun White, Nina Dobrev, Zoey Deutch and Jared Leto were among a group of celebrities who kicked off the new year by cruising around Antarctica.
Photos and videos posted by the stars on social media showed the group on a luxury super yacht, posing with penguins and snowboarding.
It has since been revealed roughly how much the trip cost, leaving fans shocked who couldn’t understand what it would be like to be so rich.
The “Octopus”, built for the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, served as the superyacht. The 126 meter long ship is one of the largest yachts in the world.

Octopus, which is listed for sale for €235 million (US$401 million), was sold to Swedish billionaire Roger Samuelsson in 2021 and can be bought from Mayfair-based yacht broker Camper & Nicholsons from US$2.2 million (3, $5 million) to be chartered per week.
The yacht has eight decks, accommodation for 12 guests, two helipads, a gym, spa, cinema, library, pool, basketball court and an underwater observation lounge.
An American TikToker has scrutinized the trip and estimated it was worth $3.49 million (US$5.6 million), including tips and other expenses and a couple’s flights from Los Angeles.
This only included the cost of renting the yacht for a week. According to Instagram, the famous group was in Antarctica for at least three weeks, which means the trip could have cost three times as much.

The yacht has eight decks, accommodation for 12 guests, two helipads, a gym, spa, cinema, library, pool, basketball court and an underwater observation lounge.
“Somewhere between ‘damn, I want to get rich’ and ‘eat the rich,'” one joked.

One curious person said, “I want to know how much money they spend annually just on holiday expenses.”
Some suggested Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, who made $65 million ($102 million) last year from contracts and sponsorships, according to Forbes, shouted at the trip.
Hamilton celebrated his 38th birthday on January 7th.
“It’s a great start to the year. The most beautiful place I’ve ever been…or maybe synonymous with Africa,” he said in a video. “Look at that view out there. Super grateful.”
Actress Nina Dobrev, who is dating three-time Olympic snowboarding champion Shaun White, also celebrated her birthday on the trip on Jan. 9. She was 34 years old.
