One thing I love about the people here in South Louisiana is that we are not afraid to announce who we are related to.
Add a famous person or two and the conversation only gets better.
We recently asked listeners on social media who they were being referred to. This is famous, and some of the answers shocked us.
Sure, it might not be your immediate family, but knowing you have a distant cousin or uncle who’s famous is still pretty cool.
I suspect that if we all did extensive research into our family trees, we would all find someone far away who is famous and connected to our “family.”
So let’s take a look at some of the responses we received from listeners and you might also be shocked to find out who some people are related to. I would like to note that several on the list are from the Acadiana region. Therefore, we are not shocked to hear that some of you may be related to celebrities like Ali Landry or Ron Guidry.

A few people are related to this Louisiana icon, Sammy Kershaw!
We had a few people say they were related to Kevin Faulk, perhaps the greatest football player to ever come out of the state of Louisiana.
One person reported that they are related to former basketball star Tim Duncan.
Terry Bradshaw is from north Louisiana, so we weren’t shocked to see someone was related to this NFL Hall of Fame player.

Again, it’s no surprise that Hunter Hayes has roots in Acadiana.

This admission was a surprise, someone said in the distance that they were related to actress Julia Roberts.
Singer Matt Stell also made the list.
Ali Landy is from Breaux Bridge, so we know many of her relatives are here and some proudly announced that they are related to her.

Apparently Beyoncé has family in the area and she was by far the most mentioned. Whether true or not, many claim this queen is in south Louisiana.

Chef Paul Prudhomme is an icon in Louisiana and it was nice to see some of his relatives mention his name in the survey.
Someone in Acadiana reports that they are cousins, albeit very distantly, of Dallas Cowboys icon Coach Tom Landry.
