The 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am kicked off Wednesday when three celebrity-studded charity events took over the Hay Short Course. “I never take that for granted, I really love this part of the country. I love Monterey, I love Carmel-by-the-Sea, I love Pebble. I love it all,” said actor Josh Duhamel. “The golf here is second to none and the fans, the volunteers, I just love the whole atmosphere. And especially with this weather.” Celebrities including Scott Eastwood, Ray Romano, Alfonso Ribeiro, Wells Adams and more took pictures during the 3M Celebrity Challenge. “It’s so much fun to attend this event because I grew up here,” said Wells Adams of Bachelor in Paradise. “I used to play this course as a junior golfer so it was absolutely insanely fun to come back and do this.” Some shots were that close while others not so much. But the real winners were the Central Coast nonprofits. Digital Nest won $75,000 and Life Labs $50,000. “In the history of this tournament and this weekend in general, they’ve raised over $200 million for charity and that’s just a testament to the power of this tournament and it’s awesome,” said actor Scott Eastwood. The Chevron Challenge saw sports stars like Buster Posey, Steve Young, Larry Fitzgerald, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith campaign to win $250,000 for local charities. The following charities each received $50,000 from The Chevron Challenge: YMCA Central Coast, Girls Inc. of the Central Coast, Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County, Lyceum and Greenfield Community Science Workshop. Central Coast residents say the events bring everyone together. “When you’re out here, you see people driving here from all over the Central Coast, from The Valley, from Sacramento, so that really unites us in this area,” said Dina Ruiz, former KSBW 8 host and reporter. In the Cisco Million Dollar Hole-In-One for Charity, Michael Peña was the big winner, raising $300,000 for Santa Cruz Community Health.
