Celebrities speak out after Hurricane Ian has already begun wreaking havoc near Cayo Costa, FL, where it made landfall on September 28. Kerry Washington, Ice T, and more took to social media to share messages of concern after videos of the strong winds, estimated at 150mph, made their way across various online platforms. The Category 4 storm has also caused water to rush into nearby towns, putting lives and buildings at risk.

“For those of you in Florida affected by #Hurricane_Ian, I pray for your safety,” Kerry tweeted Wednesday morning along with a red heart emoji. “Another angle… It’s crazy Florida has the best and worst weather… smh… Be safe,” Ice T wrote while sharing video of the ferocious winds and water damaging his Fort Myers area.

Jim Gaffigan also shared his support in a tweet attached to another video of homes that were sadly destroyed. “Hold on, Fort Myers and Southwest Florida,” he wrote. Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis also made sure he spoke up and let Floridians know that help was available. “#HurricaneIan is now making landfall. Florida is ready to respond. We have fleets of flood vessels, 42,000 linemen, 7,000 National Guardsmen and 179 aircraft ready to assist,” he wrote.

In addition to support from celebs and politicians, it was reported that some stars’ homes were in danger as the storm approached. Tom cruise, Tom Bradyand Jennifer Lopez, are few who have homes in the state. It is unclear whether and/or how badly the houses were affected.
