Some of Manchester’s most inspiring citizens were honored at a star-studded party. The Pride of Manchester Awards took place at the Kimpton Hotel on Tuesday night and saw the city’s great and good flock to applaud this year’s special award nominees.
The glittering ceremony, hosted by the Manchester Evening News, was attended by some of Manchester’s biggest stars – including famous faces from the music, sport and television worlds. The event kicked off with a glittering red carpet ceremony which featured Spice Girl Mel B, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and Fleur East among the many stars in attendance.
They were joined by this year’s inspirational winners, who all had their moment to shine and be rewarded for all their hard work. Host Kym Marsh stunned in a long sleeved blue dress and shimmering silver clutch and shoes. She said it was “so nice to be back with this year’s ‘inspirational’ winners”. “It’s wonderful to be partying again,” she told the Manchester Evening News on the red carpet.
“The winners are all just great on their own. They’re really inspiring people, so I’m very excited.” Also gracing the carpet were Real Housewives of Cheshire’s Rachel Lugo and Seema Malhotra, both dazzling in black and monochrome numbers.
Some of the city’s biggest political figures attended, including Mayor Andy Burnham and Paralympic lady Sarah Storey. Mr Burnham, who presents Professor Tony Redmond with the Lifetime Achievement Award, said Redmond was the “living embodiment of Manchester pride”.

` Radio Manchester presenter Jsky, one of this year’s judges, stunned in a long black dress studded with silver jewels. He called the awards a “proud moment for Manchester”.
“It’s nice to see everyone out and about. It’s my second year as a judge. In my mind I’m trying to think of what would appeal to people the most and what would inspire people the most?” he said.
Among Corrie’s favorites, who swapped the famous cobblestones for the red carpet, were Katie McGlynn, who played the late Sinead Osbourne on the Trafford-based soap opera, Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Ramsey and Lucy Fallon. Katie looked chic in a black suit and corset and Lucy, who played Bethany Platt, channeled Hollywood glamor in a silky red dress, while Julia looked dapper in a long black dress with splashy orange accessories and heels.
Shelley King, who plays Yazmeen Metcalfe, Victoria Ekanoye, who played Angie Appleton, and Alexandra Mardell, who recently left the cobbles as Emma Brooker, also wowed on the red carpet. The MEN Pride of Manchester Awards, in association with TSB, premieres on YouTube on Tuesday 17th May at 7pm
