On the first Monday in May, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts the Met Gala, the biggest and swankiest themed party of the year. Several stunning looks graced the 2022 Met Gala red carpet as it is one of the biggest entertainment and fashion events of the year. The theme of the 2022 Met Gala was Gilded Glamour, which everyone watched in anticipation and left stunned.
Gilded Age fashion was graceful and sophisticated due to the booming economy and prosperity of the northern United States in the late 19th century. Therefore, fashion sense, styling and dress were elitist, distinguished, elegant and magnificent. So, without further ado, let’s put on our fashion hats and proceed with the assessment of which celebrity has walked the order for the 2022 Met Gala.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Indeed, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of the most popular power couples in Hollywood. They are certainly a match made in heaven with their alluring personalities, alluring charm, modern fairytale love story, support system and excellent wit to complement their magnificence. Yeah, like they’re two peas in a pod.
They did a great job taking center stage with their electrifying, dynamic ensembles as co-chairs of the 2022 Met Gala, and we’re head over heels in love. Ryan Reynolds looked incredibly elegant and neat in his crisp velvet suit, while Blake stole the show, making everyone turn around for another look. Blake Lively wore a floor-length Atelier Versace long dress in warm tonal copper hues of rose with a huge side bow, and her outfit enhanced the 2022 Met Gala’s ‘gilded glamour’ theme with such a profound and thought-provoking concept.
She was inspired by the extraordinary New York – the city of diversity and dynamism. From the Empire State Building to Grand Central Station’s constellation-painted ceilings to NYC’s iconic symbol – the Statue of Liberty – she paid homage to these fabulous architectural beauties of the city with a touch of their grandeur. However, she twisted things halfway by cascading the bow into an iridescent blue skirt and twirling it around like a Disney princess.

Blake has consistently served us the most iconic and memorable Met Gala outfits over the years (we’re still not over her 2018 Supreme Queen look), and if this was prom, she’d be the queen. We love that she genuinely cares about making her clothes look like museum-worthy works of art, and her dedication is admirable.
Blake also shared some behind-the-scenes secrets of how she created her stunningly beautiful look.
Many unsung heroes helped her prepare for the big night and she, the humble queen that she is, was grateful to each of them and recognized the efforts of her “Dream Glam Crew” by giving them kudos. She completed her stunning, flawless nude glam makeup using Charlotte Tilbury products and accessorised it with matching long gloves and chandelier earrings.

Dakota Johnson, known for her flawless, almost glamorous fashion elegance on the red carpet and her beautiful, innocent smile, stepped out at the 2022 Met Gala and wowed everyone. She’s consistently brought us the most sensual styles in town, from sheer corset jumpsuits and pearly white satins to embellished bejeweled dresses and featherweight wraps.
Dakota dazzled with her theatrical performance on the red carpet in 50 Shades of Glory. She wore a custom made transparent Gucci lace catsuit adorned with beaded silver fringes throughout and covered with a burgundy draped velvet coat. She completed her look with pointy black patent pumps, glittery earrings, smoky glam eyes and signature fringe hair. Catsuits are in vogue, and this futuristic take on the gilded glam theme was sure to be a hit.
Alicia Keys
15-time Grammy winner and one of Hollywood’s most talented celebrities, Alicia Keys brought the New York City skyline to the red carpet of the 2022 Met Gala. Alicia Keys’ Met Gala 2022 ensemble cast was an ode to the city she loved her New York State of Mind. She wore a shimmering black and silver crystal embellished Ralph Lauren gown with a floor length beautiful cape embroidered with the NYC skyline. Adorning the dramatic yet exquisite ensemble with over 200,000 crystals, it intensified her look and theme to another level and left everyone in awe.
Cardi B
Gilded Glamor meets Versace meets the Bronx. Cardi B looked in her Versace ensemble, curated by acclaimed Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace and her crew, who spent over 1300 hours working on her comprehensive look for the big night. To say the least, her efforts paid off as she walked the red carpet looking fierce, strikingly beautiful, extravagant and gorgeous.
Kacey Musgraves
It’s the perfect time to join us in singing and humming… ’cause I can’t help but fall in love with you’ as she portrays the timeless beauty of Kacey Musgraves with her majestic vintage look on the Met red carpet Gala 2022 honored. Kacey attended the opening of the In America: An Anthology of Fashion exhibition in a tailored black bodycon dress with silver embellishments by Prada. The ensemble allowed us to see Gilded Glamor in the late 1800s through the prism of 1960s Elvis. She won hearts with her flawless look, which featured a stunning mix of De Beers jewels and retro makeup.
Ariana DeBose
Ariana’s look and our feelings cannot be better summed up than what she herself said: “I had several moments of absolute speechlessness balanced with the greatest amount of gratitude communicated verbally with an inordinate amount of words of thanks.” The American Fashion designer and creative director of fashion house Moschino, Jeremy Scott, did an amazing job curating this Met Gala look that was nothing short of extraordinary. It’s gilded glamour, it’s fun, and it’s a sculptural beauty that brought Ariana center stage.

Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish wore Gucci to emphasize her ‘gilded glamour’, taking inspiration from John Singer Sargent’s 1885 painting ‘Madame Paul Poirson’. With her custom upcycled dress and matching heels, she was undoubtedly one of those celebrities who got the 2022 Met Gala brief right. Billie Eilish wore an upcycled Gucci duchesse satin corset dress designed by Alessandro Michele with lace underlay, a ruched satin duchesse skirt with a padded bustier and a tonal duchesse corset. She completed her look with an embellished choker and a quirky updo, befitting the era.
Conan Gray
Conan made a spectacular Met Gala debut in a stunning see-through silver Valentino costume, honoring his vow to give it his all. He looked flawless in his attire, from the embellished tulle with long bling silver pants accessorized with a long flowing cape, loose curly hair and white high platform heels. Conan perfectly embodied the essence of the Golden Age with such elegance and a dash of glamour.
Lizzo
It’s About Damn Time (yes, pun intended) for you to acknowledge Lizzo’s many talents aside from singing, as she emerges as one of the most seductive and stylish women of 2022. Lizzo looked majestic in a Thom Browne Black and Gold ensemble, and everything about the outfit just stole our hearts. Everything complemented her vibrant style and confidence, from the massive black cape with gold detailing to the corset-style dress and $55,000 flute, making her stand out from the crowd.
Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion takes our breath away every time she walks the red carpet, and the 2022 Met Gala fits that bill perfectly. Megan looked lavishly adorned with sequins, beads, crystals and stones in a custom embroidered metallic strapless bodycon dress from Moschino with a long train, side cutouts and slit detail. It was absolutely stunning looking elegant and classy with glamorous makeup and a feathery shoulder cape reflecting the feathery tones worn by many wealthy women throughout the Golden Age.

Natasha Poonawalla
We can only describe this gold ensemble by Natasha Poonawalla as DIVINE! Heavenly divine – truly, deeply and gloriously divine! It was a clever approach to enhance the gilded appearance by incorporating traditional Indian influences into this exquisitely embellished saree by Sabyasachi, a world-renowned fashion designer. Natasha looked like a golden sculpture draping this gorgeous custom made golden sabyasachi saree with golden armor corset style with astronomical vibes accented with matching glamorous makeup, jewels, bangles and manicure.
