Several high-profile actors sat down with Screen Actors Guild leaders this week after contract negotiations collapsed last week.
George Clooney, Tyler Perry and Emma Stone were among the stars who joined a Zoom call with SAG President Fran Drescher on Tuesday. The actors were reportedly looking for a way to end the strike.
The meeting came after negotiations between the union and Hollywood studios collapsed last week. The talks, which resumed this month, were the first negotiations between the two parties since the strike began in mid-July.
There was hope that the deal negotiated last month between the studios and the Writers Guild of America could serve as a template for SAG negotiations. However, the studios decided to walk away from the negotiating table after seeing a counteroffer from the union.
Notably, the studios suspended negotiations after seeing the union’s profit-sharing offer. According to the studios, demand was too great and ultimately “unproductive.”
Shortly after negotiations were suspended, the union bombed the studios and members rejoined the picket lines.
