As Georgia’s Republican nominee for the Senate, Herschel Walker has focused on America’s greatest challenge, and he has found a hot answer.
The former Georgia Bulldogs running back and NFL star spoke to Ben Carson in a recent interview for the American Cornerstone Institute. During the interview, Carson Walker asked, “What do you see as some of the biggest issues facing our country today?”
Walker could have offered an answer that included gun violence, affordable healthcare, racism, climate change, or even illegal immigration. Instead, the retired but still famous soccer player claimed that the biggest hurdle America faces is famous people.

“I think some of the biggest problems that exist in our country today is that we have so many celebrities telling people they can’t do it. Saying to a lot of people, ‘Oh, well, you must feel bad for yourself, feel sorry for yourself,’ which makes me sad,” Walker replied. “They did it, but they tell you you can’t do it. And it’s like, you did it, why can’t they do it? I think they tell all the kids they can’t and make our kids feel sorry for themselves.”
Walker’s latest major compilation of words continues a polarizing run for office that has even included criticism from Republicans for opting out of GOP events and debates. Despite his lack of political savvy and polish, Walker managed to win the Republican nomination, largely because he’s a celebrity in Georgia.
