Brie Larson was amazed to find a blue confirmation tick on her Twitter account without even realizing it Elon Musk had made an about-face regarding the company’s celebrity account verification policy.

The Marvel star tweeted her confusion at having her account re-verified despite not paying for the service.

Some fans suggested that her account was verified because she used an NFT portrait of herself as her profile photo.

Others attributed it to Twitter’s awe at her impressive superpowers.

Were Larson and other Twitter users trolled by the self-proclaimed Chief Twit?

Previously, notable Twitter users were given free blue check verifications to protect them and their audience from impersonators. However, when Musk bought the social media platform, he promised to turn it into a profitable business by charging money for verified status.

Many celebrities balked at having to pay for a security measure created to prevent fraud. Musk spent months responding to any attempts to discuss the matter with youthful tweets urging big-name users to pay the $8 free.

However, when Musk implemented a freemium business model, the glaring inequalities in his celebrity politics soon came to light. He sponsored blue checks to celebrities he liked while disgracing them. Scathing criticism of his hypocrisy prompted Musk to reinstate free verification for notables, including Larson.
