Animal Celebrities in Connecticut: Meet Skippy the Wallaby!

SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) – News 8 is back with this week’s edition of Animal Celebrities in Connecticut.

This week’s animal will jump straight to your heart! Skippy the wallaby lives in Seymour with his owner Jenny Goduto at Demartino Farm.

Skippy and his mom travel all over Connecticut with JC’s pony parties, bringing joy and curiosity to children and adults alike.

“But everyone has the same thing. They all have sheep and goats and lambs and rabbits — so I decided I needed something different and figured a wallaby would be a lot of fun,” Goduto said.

Jenny’s petting zoo features other unique animals like Jack, a Patagonian mara and a miniature cow named Rocco. But Skippy is the star!

“I just think he’s so nice. He is definitely unique. He’s got his little T-Rex arms, which the kids will say are kinda cool,” she said.

But don’t let those little arms fool you!

“In the summer; he swims for the kids in his pool. Wallabies are great swimmers. They can swim for miles with those little hands and feet,” Goduto said.

When he’s not swimming or having fun, Skippy is jumping up and down the barn and greeting his neighbors.

“They play sometimes, he has some soccer around him and he plays with some stuffed animals,” Goduto said.

Demartino Farm will be hosting a four-week animal adventure camp during the summer where children can learn about and interact with the animals.
