Actor Kevin Costners wife, Christine Baumgartnerr, filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. Baumgartner filed for divorce on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to TMZ, and requested joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12.
However, she did not ask for spousal support as the couple had a prenuptial agreement. A Costner representative confirmed the news in a statement: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have arisen which have resulted in Mr. Costner being required to participate in a lawsuit for the dissolution of his marriage.”
Costner responded to his estranged wife’s petition on Tuesday by also requesting joint custody of their children. The couple began dating in 1999 and after a brief separation in 2003, they reunited and married the following year in Aspen, Colorado.
They have three children together: Cayden, Hayes and Grace. Costner also has three children from his previous marriage Cindy CostnerAnnie, Lily and Joe.
Costner is caught in the middle of the Yellowstone drama
The news of the divorce comes after reports that the hit TV show Yellowstone, which Costner stars in, may end after its fifth season due to disagreements between Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan.
Despite the rumours, a production source told the New York Post that they hope the issue will be resolved and that Costner will return for the remaining episodes.
“It’s too big a show for things to not be worked out. Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season,” the source said.
The couple has yet to release a public statement regarding their divorce, and it’s unclear what led to their split.
