Aactress Amanda Seyfried has an art collection that is definitely exceptional. During a tour of her Manhattan apartment Architectural Digestshe shared some interesting insights into her eclectic tastes.
She described her family home in Catskills, Seyfried revealed a one-of-a-kind piece of art: “My home upstate has something like a woolen vagina hanging on it — a custom-made vagina, no kidding,” she said with a pinch of humor. “I don’t know why… I like to remember that we are all human.”
Another fascinating work of art that Seyfried exhibited was a self-portrait of a painter Mark Ryden. She explained, “He was inspired by something I said he should paint me with a dead cat, and he literally painted me with a dead cat.” It’s definitely an unconventional choice!
The apartment designed by Sarah Zames out of general assembly, features an earthy, “natural” vibe with an open and airy kitchen. Seyfried praised the design, saying, “I just feel so comfortable here in the big city and feel a little bit at home even when we’re not home.”

The tour also included a peek into the dining room, where Seyfried proudly displayed her “old table” from her previous apartment. She shared, “I’ll never part with it … Dinnertime is all oil and food on the floor and mess — and a new stain is made and a new memory is made and so we just have to look at things.”
Seyfried’s love for her two young children was evident when she visited her playroom. She spoke about her co-founded company, Make It Cute, which makes aesthetically pleasing playhouses for children. “We wanted to create a space for our children to play, explore and create their own inner world, but also with an aesthetic that appeals to parents and is soothing to them,” she explained.
The compatibility of work and motherhood is important to Seyfried, since during the shooting of “The crowded roomShe shared, “I love blending the two lives together … I was really lucky that I was able to do that.” It’s clear that family plays an important role in Seyfried’s life and influences her decisions.
