The coronation of King Charles will be celebrated with a special concert at Windsor Castle – but not everyone wanted to take part.

The celebrations for King Charles’ coronation continue tonight with a special concert at Windsor Castle. However, not everyone was keen to get involved and some big stars are said to have opted out of the event.

The coronation concert will be headlined by the likes of Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Take That, but there have reportedly been a number of A-list celebrities who have turned down the chance to perform. Around 20,000 spectators will attend the concert alongside celebrities and members of the royal family.

It is the first ever concert event to be held at Windsor Castle and forms part of the three day celebrations following the coronation of the King and Queen. At the coronation ceremony, King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey yesterday (6 May).

The concert will be broadcast live on BBC1, ` iPlayer and ` Sounds at 8pm. It will be hosted by ` Radio 2 presenters Dermot O’leary and Scott Mills after Zoe Ball canceled due to illness.

Harry Styles

According to Rolling Stone magazine, Harry Styles was offered the opportunity to perform at the concert, but declined the offer. No reason was given as to why the former One Direction star turned down the opportunity.

Mr Elton John

Sir Elton John has close ties to the royal family and performed at Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997. However, the ‘Rocket Man’ singer turned down the coronation concert due to scheduling conflicts.

The Spice Girls

Despite initial rumors that the Spice Girls would be reuniting for the coronation concert, Rolling Stone reported that the group missed the opportunity.

Adele

Adele is another star who turned down the chance to perform at the special concert – without giving any reason behind her decision.

Robbie Williams

While Take That will perform in front of King Charles at the coronation concert, Robbie Williams turned down the chance to reunite with his former bandmates.

Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue was reportedly asked to perform at the concert but turned it down after considering growing republican sentiment in Australia.

Ed Sheeran

Organizers were reportedly keen to include Ed Sheeran in the concert, but the singer couldn’t make it due to his busy schedule.

Who is playing in the coronation concert?

In addition to the one-off performance by the Royal Ballet, Royal Opera, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal College of Music and Royal College of Art, the following artists will perform and perform.

Bollywood star Sonam Kapoor will also deliver a spoken word performance.
