They were in full force…
A star-studded array of celebrity guests attended the opening of Nobu Dubai last night, Friday 20th January. Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper, the founders of Nobu, were joined by celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Liam Payne and Michelle Keegan to celebrate the opening of the new rooftop restaurant address at Atlantis The Palm.
The crowning glory of the destination resort is the new Nobu restaurant area, which will officially welcome guests from Monday 23 January. Officially home to the Royal Bridge Suite, the 22nd floor has been completely remodeled to house a brand new Nobu, complete with an updated menu, a Nobu lounge and bar, and an expansive terrace with incredible views over Palm Island and the Arabian Gulf .
During the event, Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper were joined by model Kendall Jenner for the Kagami Biraki ceremony – an ancient Japanese ritual dating back to the 15th centuryth 19th century in which the lid of the round sake cask (kagami) is broken and opened (biraki), ushering in harmony and happiness for years to come. Each of the founders took a mallet and, counting backwards from three, banged the lid off a huge cask of sake, which was served to revelers in traditional masu cups.
The opening of Nobu Dubai was the prelude to the grand opening of Atlantis The Royal Hotel next door. On Saturday, January 21st, an invitation-only VIP audience will enjoy a headlining performance by Beyonce, a DJ set by Swedish House Mafia and dazzling fireworks.
