“Everyone has something to say. ‘She has too many wrinkles, she doesn’t have enough wrinkles.’ It almost feels like people don’t want us to be totally okay with where we are, like they almost enjoy it when we’re tormented by who we are today, whether we whether you choose to age naturally and not look perfect, or whether you do something if it makes you feel better,” said the 58-year-old actress.

When asked if he would consider cosmetic changes to look younger, Clooney replied, “I clearly haven’t. For me, that was never a problem or an option. I don’t think it would make much sense, honestly. I saw it happen Especially with men, I don’t think it really works. I think it actually makes you look older.

Reflecting on her decades-long career, Streep – now 73 – spoke about her fear that aging would disqualify her from jobs in the entertainment industry.

In 2016, she told WSJ Magazine, “I remember when I was about 40, I thought every film would really be my last. And all the evidence from other 40-year-old women at that time — that’s 27 years ago — would make you think it’s over.”

Speaking to NPR in 2012, she said that when it comes to women in their 40s and 60s — who she describes as “the most vibrant thing in a woman’s life” — Hollywood is often at a loss as to “what to do with them.”

“I remember when I turned 40 I was offered three different witch roles in one year. Playing three different witches in three different contexts. It was almost like the world was saying or the studios were saying, ‘We don’t know what to do with you,'” she said.

According to Today.com, Streep told Good Housekeeping, “You have to accept getting older. Life is precious and when you have lost a lot of people you realize that every day is a gift.”
