Filming is really starting to boom in Alberta and this May there will be plenty of celebrities spending time in the province as projects kick off, so you never know who you might see on your next trip to the grocery store.
From the huge nationwide production of HBO’s The Last Of Us to a brand new Netflix show, Alberta is set to get some serious screen time over the next few years, and celebrity sightings are on the rise.
In addition to the shows that are currently being filmed, you can also see Alberta on the big screen when TV shows and films made in the province air.
Here are seven celebrities you might bump into in Alberta in May.
Cobie Smulders
Canadian actress Cobie Smulders, who will be known to most as Robin Scherbatsky on How I Met Your Mother, is currently filming in Calgary for a brand new TV show based on the lives of Calgary musicians Tegan and Sara. Smulders posted footage on her Instagram. They could even possibly star alongside her as the show has been looking for extras.
Tegan and Sara
In addition to Smulders, Tegan and Sara are also spending time in Calgary as filming begins on their new TV show, High School. Based on the memoir of the same name, Tegan and Sara are credited as the writers and producers of the series and are sharing their filming experiences online.
Sarah Rafferty
Former Suits and Grey’s Anatomy actress and one of Meghan Markle’s best friends Sarah Rafferty is also expected to film the new Netflix show My Life With The Walter Boys in Calgary. She takes on the role of Dr. Katherine Walter, the guardian of the main character Jackie.
Bella Ramsey
Bella Ramsey rose to fame as the wild Lyanna Mormont on Game Of Thrones and now stars alongside Pascal in The Last Of Us. Ramsey has shared many snaps from her time in Alberta and she has also been spotted filming in downtown Calgary.
Julianna Guill
From Captain America: Civil War to Crazy, Stupid Love, Julianna Gill has appeared in some impressive films, but she will also be in Alberta this May filming for Joe Pickett’s new series. The series follows a game warden and his family as they navigate the changing socio-political climate of a rural town on the brink of economic collapse.
