- As soon as Kenyans found out about the trying times, they pooled their resources and helped them by building houses, paying rent, buying them food and so on
- People who have benefited from this include Omosh, Lolani Kalu, Mustafa, and Jemutai
A common saying goes that life is a journey with many twists and turns; Sometimes you’re up and sometimes you’re down. So it’s not uncommon for people who claim to be awash with money to suddenly have a begging bowl because they’ve lost everything.

TUKO.co.ke looked at some of the celebrities who have witnessed the generous and compassionate side of Kenyans after things went wrong.
1.Omosh
In February 2021, the nation was rocked by the news that former Tahidi High star Omosh was broke and unable to even pay the rent.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Omosh said he ran into financial difficulties when he was suspended from work in 2020 due to a blow to the entertainment industry.
During the interview he burst into tears and Kenyan knew it was difficult. They joined forces, built him a house and also offered him money.
2.Lolani Kalu
Known for his unique and personable Swahili content on TV, Lolani Kalu has become the darling of Kenyans over time.
When they learned that Lolani Kalu was fired during a mass cut at NTV in December 2017 and was in trouble, they came to his aid.
Later Kalu got another job at TV47 and his life improved. Lolani was very grateful to the Kenyans for coming to his aid at a very difficult time.
3. Mustafa
On May 23, a video of legendary Kenyan singer Colonel Mustafa working at a construction site drew mixed reactions from Kenyans.
Some thought he was actually broke while others thought it was a video for a new hit.
Later he came and explained that his mother had cancer and that he had spent all his savings on her. He also revealed that it’s been a long time since he’s gotten any gigs.
After learning of Mustafa’s predicament, the Kenyans came together again and offered him support
4. Jemutai
Acclaimed stand-up comedian Stella Chemutai aka Jemutai stunned Kenyans when it was revealed she needed help to feed her two babies.
The news of their struggle was difficult for many to follow, spreading like wildfire. The Kenyans encouraged her and claimed that she would soon be on her feet.
Jemutai later thanked the Kenyans for their help in their hour of need.
5. Danger Angle
On June 23, 2022, comedian Akuku Danger’s family announced he had lung cancer and his bill at Nairobi West Hospital was through the roof.
Benevolent Kenyans got together and raised 500,000 KSh for him. Akuku Danger had been hospitalized several times and actress Sandra Dacha was always begging Kenyans for help and they took the opportunity.
6. Conjestina Achieng’
In June 2022, sad photos of Conjestina Achieng’, showing how the former boxer’s life had turned upside down, surfaced on the internet and Kenyans can’t help but sympathize with her.
The photo went around and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko came to her aid and took her to a rehabilitation center in Mombasa County.
Although the cost of living is very high and almost everyone struggles with problems, Kenyans still use their scant resources to help and that speaks so much about them.
Robert Alai warns against helping people
In another story, Kileleshwa County Assembly (MCA) member Robert Alai advised Kenyans against rushing to give Mustafa financial support as it could make the situation worse.
A video of Colonel Mustafa working at a construction site was trending and the singer clarified that he was doing menial jobs to take care of his ailing mother.
Alai advised Kenyans not to rush into financial support for Mustafa as he claimed it could worsen his situation.
In an Instagram post, the politician said well-wishers should look into the cause of the now-struggling musician’s problem before giving him any money.
