5 celebrities who nailed the vintage fashion trend in 2023

Recreating vintage fashion is another trend these days, with celebrities re-imagining previously worn clothing. From the Met Gala to the streets, retro looks are making a comeback.

Several designers have already predicted this as recycling vintage clothing becomes more economical, practical and fashionable.

In this list, celebrities have taken pieces from ’90s runways and restyled them. An elegant choker or brown-tinted makeup made these looks instant classics.

From Zendraya to Bella Hadid, vintage fashion fever is running high among celebrities

1) Lily-Rose Depp in Chanel

Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, knows how to wear vintage fashion. The Idol actress wore a vintage Chanel little black dress to Cannes 2023. Along with her co-stars, she posed in the strapless sequined little black dress originally worn by Christie Turlington in 1994.

Lily-Rose didn’t want to be a copycat and didn’t fully recreate the look Turlington originally wore; Instead, she made it her own. Like the supermodel, Lily-Rose wore sheer gloves and tights.

However, the floral headgear was discarded. Instead, Depp opted for a messy low bun, and the wavy tendrils fell on Lily-Rose’s face, where ’90s supermodel Turlington hit the flyaway with his bangs.

2) Zendaya in Versace

Euphoria star Zendraya wore a vintage Versace slit dress to the NAACP Image Awards. Law Roach, her stylist, found the dress, which was from Versace’s 2002 couture collection. Supermodel Carolina Kurkova originally wore it on the runway.

This black strapless dress featured a V-shaped, plunging neckline and a form-fitting, body-hugging center slit. These features were distinguished by lime green accents. The ruffle at the back of the dress added drama.

To balance the drama of the dress, Zendreya’s makeup artist Raoul kept her makeup to a minimum. The look was complemented by a pointed toe pump, a shimmery bracelet and Zendreya’s brown bob.

3) Jenna Ortega in Versace

Jenna Ortega loves to rock the dark, bold Wednesday vibes on the red carpet. She wore a black vintage dress with a high slit by Versace to the SAG Awards.

The Gen Z actress’ dress with an asymmetric neckline was designed by Gianni Versace for his Italian Fall 1994 collection. The original dress included straps. Ortega made the dress her own by eliminating her.

To complete the look, she paired an elegant 18k gold, platinum and diamond necklace from Tiffany.co’s Schlumberger collection with Jimmy Choo platform shoes.

4) Dua Lipa in Chanel’s Bride

Dua Lipa’s Met Gala look was the perfect blend of vintage and modern. At the 2023 Met Gala, the singer wore a white vintage Chanel ball gown with navy blue lining.

This look was part of Lagerfeld’s wedding dress tradition. At the end of his shows, the designer often chose one of his muses as a bride. This piece from the 1992 Haute Couture collection was worn by Claudia Schiffer.

To modernize the look, Dua Lipa added a diamond necklace from Tiffany. co. She shed the original lace hat that went with the dress; Instead, she opted to keep the look simple.

5) Bella Hadid in wide denim

It would be unfair not to mention wide leg jeans as a vintage fashion. Denim never goes out of style as it comes in different shapes and styles. In a recent Instagram post, Bella Hadid wore baggy jeans with a long coat.

Hadid further enhanced her look by wearing a block heeled boot. This gave the look a real vintage 90’s style as FRIENDS star Courtney Cox was often spotted in this look.

Hadid modernized the look by wearing high-waisted gray jeans.
