TEHERAN, Iran (AP) – Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Iran has died, state television reported on Thursday.
The report did not name the cause of death for Christopher Mapanga, who began his mission in Tehran in 2018. Mapanga began his mission in Tehran in 2018. Before that, he was ambassador to Egypt. He allegedly suffered from liver disease.
It is the second death of a foreign diplomat in Tehran in less than six months.
In May, Iranian police began investigating the death of a Swiss diplomat who died after reportedly falling from a skyscraper in Tehran. The 50-year-old Swiss woman fell from the upper floors of a 20-story building in which she lived in northern Tehran, reported the state news agency IRNA.
