The viral #MilkCrateChallenge is everything we didn’t know we needed. Presumably inspired by the remarkable athleticism shown during the Tokyo Olympics earlier this summer, or by sheer boredom, a new challenge has been born that is making social media burn. People started building obstacle courses by stacking plastic milk boxes on top of each other to form a pyramid and then trying to climb over them. It goes without saying that this is dangerous and the task is so demanding and skillful that people also refer to it as the “Hood Olympics”. While these plastic containers can hold a lot of weight, when stacked on top of one another they are not that stable at all. Unfortunately, unsuccessful attempts result in some rather painful looking falls and injuries for most participants, which become the kind of content the internet lives for.
Our Twitter, TikTok and Instagram timelines are flooded with videos of people who risk everything to show off their talents and athletic skills in front of a crowd. While most just end up with regrets, others effortlessly mastered the challenge, and one brave woman even made it with high heels. The challenge has already become a meme. Celebrities have even tried it and, as always, someone is trying to make a quick buck out of it. These challenges come and go, but it’s hard to forget the laughter and oneness that they bring into our schedules. Here’s everything you need to know about the #MilkCrateChallenge viral (and if you decide to give it a try, do it at your own risk).
