Japhet Tanganga’s performance against Manchester City on Sunday was the “perfect performance of a full-back,” said former Liverpool and England defender Stephen Warnock.
Tanganga, 22, tied Raheem Sterling and £ 100m Jack Grealish at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Son Heung-min’s goal secured all three points for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side against the Premier League champions.
“It was so frustrating to play against him – you could see Sterling and Grealish getting so angry,” Warnock told the Football Daily podcast.
“He’s fast, he’s great at one-on-one, he wasn’t nonsense when the ball had to go so it wouldn’t close and put itself under pressure. I thought it was brilliant.”
