Honeytrap crook was in touch with celebrities too | Nagpur News

Yavatmal: The pretrial detention of honeytrap mastermind Sandesh Mankar, who lured a doctor from Delhi with Rs2 crore and successfully duped it, was extended until September 11th.
Mankar, who was arrested last Saturday, was brought before the court after his PCR expired on Tuesday.
During the interrogation, the defendant confessed to having committed some other crimes, said SDPO Madhuri Baviskar, who is investigating the case. Mankar has also revealed his social media connections with some TV series celebrities and some industrialists, Baviskar said, adding, “We have restored the chat record.”
Police say the defendant befriended the doctor in Delhi by creating a fake social media profile of a girl Anayasingh Oberoi who works as an entrepreneur in the Gulf States. During interactions on social media, “Anayasingh” offered the doctor to accompany him abroad.
The defendant had spun a kidnapping story to deceive the doctor and received 2 million rupees in cash from him.
After realizing that he had been deceived, the doctor, accompanied by lawyers, met with Yavatmal SP Dilip Patil Bhujbal last Saturday. The SP had formed a special team that caught Mankar within 5-6 hours and got 1.78 billion rupees back from him.
Bhujbal has announced a cash reward of Rs50,000 for the police officers who managed to catch the perpetrator.
