Creativity is a decision you make, and you can be creative every day by giving your brain challenges. Your brain loves solving puzzles and creating ideas, so you need to give your brain the opportunity to generate lots of ideas. Here are some ideas to elevate your creativity to a whole different level:
- Take exploration tours — Take trips to explore new places and get some inspiration from nature. Visit art galleries, participate in museum tours, explore caves, and other places that unleash your creative juices.
- Play with Art — Play with art materials such as clay, paints, fabrics, and other materials to create and unleash creativity in various forms.
- Invent a Game — Create an original game with made up rules. This can be a great way to unlock creative thinking and to come up with original ideas.
- Free Writing — Practice free writing, where you write without stopping and without editing.
- Mind Mapping — Create mind maps to visually map out your ideas. This is a great way to organize your thoughts and unleash creativity, as it enables you to gather ideas in one place.
- Creative Retreats — Take retreats from work to focus solely on creative pursuits. This kind of timeout from the real world can be a great way to get inspired and to unleash your creative potential.
- Creative Projects — Take part in creative art projects. Sculpture, photography, painting and drawing are all great ways to inspire your creativity.
- Surround Yourself with Creativity — Surround yourself with creative people, books, movies, and art.
- Cook a Meal — Cook a meal using unusual ingredients. This can be a great way to get out of your comfort zone and come up with something new.
- Creative Writing — Practice creative writing in diverse forms, such as short stories, poems, plays, and more.
- Record a Song — Record a song and create something completely unique.
- Multi-disciplinary Training — Take part in multi-disciplinary training, such as martial arts, dancing, yoga, or other activities that involve both physical and mental elements. This kind of training can help to unleash your creativity.
- Take a Break — Take a break from the daily routine and go for a walk to clear your mind. This kind of short break can help to recharge and give you a new perspective on things.
- Upcycle— Explore ways to upcycle everyday items to create something new. Build a prototype of an invention and see if it works. Building something physical is a great way to unlock creativity and develop new ideas.
- Mindfulness — Develop mindfulness techniques to become more creative and more in tune with your creative process. Mindfulness can help to eliminate distraction and to focus on what is important.
- Chaos Pool: Create a chaos pool by collecting and storing ideas and inspirations from different sources. This pool can be filled with anything from music, books, internet searches, videos, etc. Any ideas you feel connected to can be added to the pool. Once the pool is full, take a minute to think about how these ideas could be combined or applied to something new. The chaos pool can help you come up with new and exciting projects, and will help you think outside the box.
Hereby I present a creative gym for you where you will exercise your creative muscles for 20 minutes. You will act as an idea generation machine. There are 3 challenges and your goal is to create 16 ideas in about 7 minutes for each challenge. Get your pencil and notebook — write down your ideas.
Your goal in this challenge is to create immersive reading and learning experiences for yourself.
Start with identifying your favourite genres that you would like to read:
I leave a different fiction book in every room in my house. Whenever I visit that room, I read just a few pages from that book. Using this method, I read 15 fiction books last year. To learn about this method, check out my article below:
Now, identify 16 fiction books you would love to read. Choose non-fiction books that will stimulate you. Make a list of what you would love to read in the upcoming weeks.

In short, I want to startle myself by reading a lot of science fiction. I believe science fiction offers some of the best and most boundless intellectual adventures we will ever have in our limited lives.
I want to reinvent myself every day as a scholar, writer, teacher, artist, content creator, futurist, polymath, and entrepreneur. Science fiction is at the heart of all, as it is very exciting and enables me to pursue my interests and curiosities.
I am deeply curious about how our lives and jobs will be transformed in the long term. That is why I want to keep reading science fiction books that provide a compelling vision for the future. I want to improve myself as a futurist and science fiction enthusiast.
I want to read and watch a lot of science fiction books/movies to transport myself to new realms of imagination and worldbuilding. I want to travel into the world of the future using my imagination. I want to use my imagination more often (practice storytelling, screenwriting, and worldbuilding). I would love to create visual and immersive learning experiences for myself on the platforms of Masterclass, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Tiktok. My goal is to sample some of the best storytelling available in the world. My ultimate goal: I would love to practice creative writing and be able to write my own stories.
I want to become a creative writer. I want to practice creative writing by experimenting with short stories or science fiction pieces. Alternatively, I might practice screenwriting. I want to challenge and scare myself in multiple domains related to creative writing.
It is your turn now. Create your list of 15 fiction books now.

Finally, I want to look at other learning platforms as well to accelerate my learning. I am very active on TikTok and YouTube, and I keep learning amazing things on both platforms every day. In addition, I want to delve into the following online courses to amplify my learning in topics that excite me:
I want to reinvent myself every day as a scholar, writer, teacher, artist, content creator, futurist, polymath, and entrepreneur. That is why I must keep learning, reflecting, and creating every moment in my life.
If you would like to turn everything in your life into learning, you might do the following exercise:
Your goal in this challenge is to create your ideal life 20 years from now. Where will you be after 20 years? Where do you want to be?
Your imagination does not have any boundaries, so you can use it to design a fantastic life and career for your future. To inspire yourself for outstanding success in the next 20 years, you need to understand your why and what you stand for. You can ask yourself the following questions:
- What do you care about and why? Why does it matter? What is the big picture?
- Where do you visualize yourself after 20 years? What will you achieve? What impact will you make? What kind of future will you create?
- How can you break your big goals into small chunks? How can you make sure you achieve some little progress every day? How can you achieve momentum?
- How can you make your goals more fun and enjoyable? How can you kickstart exciting games of learning, entrepreneurship, creativity, and asset creation?
- What are you passionate about? How can you incorporate these into your career? How can you create a career path that truly excites you?
- What are your career and life goals after 20 years? How will you advance towards these goals?
As you start writing down your responses to these questions, consider the following:
- Remember that multiplicity means richness. Your life dreams and visions never fit within one job. You need to create multiple scenarios and enlarge your imagination of what good life is. Then, your life will be more adventurous, exciting, colorful, and satisfying. Your life will also be much more resilient, entrepreneurial, and anti-fragile — you benefit from multiple baskets instead of one. That is the key to a rich, adventurous, satisfying life.
- You might want to consider the diverse roles you want to pursue, whether you want to make any career changes, and what types of knowledge and skills you want to develop.
- Dream big dreams. Consider your career, learning, health, wealth, family, house, hobbies, assets, and relationships. Imagine your day from the moment you wake up until you sleep. Try to include as many details as you can.
- What do you want to create? Think of all the creative assets (books, videos, blogs, products, etc.) you can create.
- In this exercise, you will go deeper and visualize your life after 5 years. Where do you really want to be in 5 years?
- Make a list of all the accomplishments and desires you would like to actualize (career success, learning, education, writing, investments, money making, entrepreneurship, growth, impact, family, home…)
- The biggest game of your life is creating your own creative assets in your life. Think about what kind of creative assets you would like to create in the next 20 years (YouTube channel, book, podcast, blog, brand, online shop, crowdfunding project, online course, etc.). You can utilize some of these assets to kickstart a side hustle or a passive income stream. What matters is you need to follow your heart’s desires and your excitements. Start creating today, use your imagination, write or create every day, do not break the chain, and repeat these actions for years — you will enjoy tremendous results if you hang in there and do not give up.
Now, identify 16 ideas to create your ideal life. Write them down in bullet points, writing, or doodles — as they come to you.

Here is how I did this exercise — see my ideas to create my long-term life and career goals below.
- The year will be 2043 after 20 years. It is very hard to see where I will be and what the world will look like in 2043. We will have witnessed how cutting-edge technologies and tremendous advances in 3D printing, autonomous vehicles, electric cars, drones, robots, androids, virtual reality and gaming industries, voice technologies, AI and automation technologies, blockchain, space exploration, asteroid mining, and renewable energy will transform our lives. We will be working alongside robots and machines in our careers. We will probably be working, entertaining, learning, creating, and collaborating in the Metaverse. Each of us will have our avatars and work in holographic collaboration spaces. I hope that I will be close to retirement in 2043, and I will make some of my biggest contributions during my prime years. I hope that I will be renowned and acknowledged as a writer, thought leader, and teacher. I hope that I will still be fierce in my learning, teaching, writing, and asset creation efforts.
- I want to create my own renaissance in the next 20 years. I am passionate about the fields of personal development, creativity, entrepreneurship, productivity, writing, asset creation, learning, and investing. I will be creating a lot of assets in these fields. For example, I want to create an ecosystem of e-books and digital products on GumRoad on these topics. I imagine that my YouTube channel (in Turkish) will reach at least a few million subscribers by 2043. I hope that my YouTube channel will have at least 5000 videos by then — which means I will leave a very rich library of learning resources for all. My YouTube channel will be where I will be 100% myself, create over the years, and inspire people interested in creativity and imagination. I also want to be active in new platforms of creation that will emerge over the years. I would love to keep creating engaging and entertaining videos on TikTok and YouTube shorts. In each 1-minute episode, I might pose a puzzle or a question about global trends, new technologies, business news, popular culture, mental models, or the Zeitgeist. I hope to create a fun and engaging format for short teaching videos.
- I imagine that my Medium channel will reach millions of readers by 2043. I imagine that I will have at least 3000 articles on my Medium shelves. I want to enhance my global reputation as a writer, thinker, futurist, and content creator across the fields of business, arts, personal development, creativity, asset creation, and the future. This year has been big for me in books since I have already created two books (99 Creative Adventures and The Squash) and I am also working on a couple of new books. I hope to continue writing books on topics that I love. I want to write at least a dozen of innovative books or more in the next 20 years.
- I have an enormous desire and passion to teach, and I view this passion as one of my best strengths in my life. I want to create the best courses in the world on creativity and asset creation. I want to design and create modules and learning experiences for individuals interested in unleashing their creativity and creating their own creative assets (such as creating their Instagram brands, YouTube channels, Medium blogs, TikToks, books, music, products, or experiences). I want to be known as an inspiring master and teacher who provides positive perspectives and learning experiences for people from diverse walks of life. Towards this goal, I will create cutting-edge hackathons, workshops, courses, mini-courses, exercises, and learning experiences focused on creativity and asset creation. In my teaching, I incorporate new topics that are relevant to the new age, such as money (financial literacy), personal finance, blockchain, Metaverse, NFTs, AI, and compounding. Such skills are now becoming survival skills for tomorrow. The future will reward people for their imagination, creativity, passions, vision, entrepreneurship, assets, and compounding. In my teaching, I try to design inspiring learning experiences where students can develop these skills and qualities.
- I want to keep doodling and writing in my notebooks every day. I already have tens of notebooks that include my reflections, ideas, and doodles. I want to inspire individuals in their own journeys of doodling and notebook keeping. I would like to spend a minimum of 15 minutes doodling and 30 minutes of notebook-keeping every day. I want to act as a role model and guide people with simple but delightful doodle exercises. I will create several books such as “The Doodle Professor: I Will Teach You How to Doodle” and “The Magic Notebook: How Notebooks Transform Your Life and Help You Achieve 10x”. I want to create live doodling experiences to capture unfolding chaos, improvising, surfing on uncertainty, and all that jazz. I want to create a portfolio of 10000 doodles and doodle art over the long term (exhibitions, digital products, pictures, artwork, NFTs, etc.). I will never stop doodling since it brings me such enormous joy. I want to spread this joy to thousands of people.
- I want to create thousands of fresh, inspiring, easy, and engaging creativity exercises for individuals. I will turn these into a series of books and digital products. I imagine that this will be a huge library. I will be turning these into several books, such as “30 Days of Creativity: 30 Powerful Exercises That Will Inspire You”, “The Creative Gym: Practice Your Creativity 10 Minutes A Day”, and “Creative Exercise Bank: 99 Outstanding Creative Exercises”. I would like to establish a digital creative gym where everyone can exercise their creativity on a daily basis. Everyone is creative and can tap into their creativity through simple activities, such as doodling, writing, video-making, and notebook-keeping. I want to provide a large library of exercises and resources for individuals interested in practicing their creativity. I would love to create an abundance of imagination and creativity in our lives. Towards this goal, I have written a book featuring 99 creative adventures. You can read here.
- I want to create a new model of the universities of the future — a singular vision based on imagination. In this model, the curriculum is centered on invention and creativity. Degrees are designed as journeys of exploration and experimentation. Classes are designed as imagination experiments. Failures are redefined as failures of imagination. Successes are redefined as new acts and processes of creation. Exams are redesigned as bootcamps of creation. Professors act as mentors and champions for journeys of creation and entrepreneurship. Departments and disciplines are eliminated to imagine new multidisciplinary areas to solve complex real-world problems, such as climate change or inequality. I want to transform the future of business education and universities by becoming a champion for creativity and asset creation for young people. I hope to achieve progress in this vision. I imagine an online learning institution built on these principles.
- I am very much interested in the concept of compounding and its implications for investing, personal finance, learning, entrepreneurship, and skill development (Your Long-Term Game: Compound Yourself). I believe everyone can become an artist, an innovator, an entrepreneur, a content creator, and a writer through consistent daily practice. I want to be a role model in this regard and document my progress on a daily basis. Since the pandemic, I have created more than 900 doodles, 850 videos, and 545 Medium articles with this mindset. I will continue my journey in the next 20 years and document every step along the way. My hope is to build a formidable content empire until 2043. I will tell this story in books and workshops.
- I want to position myself as a one-person entertainment personality who can inspire hundreds of thousands in the long term (Fahri Karakas Productions). I want to learn about and experiment with entertainment and show business (stand-up comedy, acting, screenwriting, creative writing, storytelling, improv, etc.)
- I want to benefit from long-term investment portfolios. I want to act as a role model and work as an entrepreneur of new ideas in the fields of work, learning, careers, creativity, content creation, storytelling, micro-entrepreneurship, and asset creation. I hope to create a mix of risky and funky new economy investments including crypto-currencies and NFTs (including investments in the Metaverse, Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). I am still new in this domain, but I would love to learn further and accelerate my journey. In addition, I want to create a long-term investment portfolio of diverse stocks and potentially increase it over time. Again, I am very new in this domain, but I am a very enthusiastic learner and I would like to be a value investor focused on the long term.
- I would like to use my creativity and entrepreneurial skills to create exciting and surprising things based on my passions and curiosities (X-factor projects that are unknown but will emerge in time). I will focus on self-improvement every day. I will create a new self — more creative, imaginative, and entrepreneurial than ever. I believe in the power of following my curiosities and excitements. I want to continue my renaissance journey by following up on my curiosities and learning about issues that excite me. I want to spend time on radical learning, experimentation, and innovation. I do not know what I will be working on, and I call this “the X factor” (the unknown). I want to be open to surprises, chaos, fun, and creativity.
- I want to act as a think tank and thought leader addressing how we should prepare our students for the workplaces and jobs of the future. I want to address the rate of non-linear technological changes and acceleration, and how we are clueless in preparing for such a non-linear future. I have written an article on FONKU (fear of not keeping up) on this issue. I hope to continue thinking and writing on similar topics. I want to be a thought leader in the fields of creativity, jobs, and the future. In particular, I am curious about how individuals should reinvent themselves to adapt to the non-linear changes of the next two decades.
- I believe in the power of multidisciplinary creative thinking on future issues that we are facing. I believe universities and academics should be much more proactive in creating new ways of thinking about complex problems that face us in the next few decades (create new multidisciplinary models, partnerships, practice projects, internships, collaborations, etc.). Related to this goal, I want to be a champion of developing creative and entrepreneurial capabilities for academics. I want to create workshops, blogs, and resources to support this aim. I am extremely curious and try to learn beyond borders or disciplines. I try to astonish and scare myself every day. I want to keep learning about diverse topics such as Metaverse, NFTs, YOLO economy, artificial intelligence, blockchain, space travel, colonization of Mars, sustainable energy, and asteroid mining.
- We are lacking grand narratives to make sense of our times. I want to address this problem by understanding the Zeitgeist of our times through the lenses of technology, cinema, TV, music, social media, science fiction, and entertainment. I want to use multidisciplinary and futurist perspectives to understand social, cultural, economic, and technological trends. I spend time every day learning about pop culture and trends (such as K-pop, movies, TV dramas, social media trends, TikTok trends, Turkish TV series, etc.). I love learning about these fresh topics.
- I would like to put an end to my writer’s block in the academic field. I want to conduct innovative and high-impact qualitative research on topics I am curious about. I have already published more than 30 research articles published in top international journals. I have more than 3500 citations as of now, which is a good track record in research. I want to get back to my research career by publishing cutting-edge articles in my discipline. I want to publish meaningful and innovative research that spans multiple disciplines.
- I want to be in conversation with my future self who lives in 2043. I will write my future self letters using https://www.futureme.org/letters/new. Talking to my future self and being long-term oriented will give me enormous power and focus. I want to reinvent myself every day as a scholar, writer, teacher, artist, content creator, futurist, polymath, and entrepreneur. That is why I must keep learning, reflecting, and creating every moment in my life.
In the last section, I would like to present to you a couple of suggestions to achieve your future self. As you read these suggestions, you might want to capture and write down your ideas.
- Establish your asset creation games for the next 20 years. Allocate time every day in your calendar to create assets. Produce a lot of creative assets that will help and inspire other people. Write, draw, and create relentlessly.
- Do at least 10,000 experiments to create your renaissance. Whatever your passion is, you need to create a huge body of work to make a big contribution, and this means creating thousands of pieces of your work.
- Start now and start small. Each day is an opportunity for asset creation.
- Do not fear, take a small action. Make a difference today. Make today a day worth remembering.
- Cultivate your self-awareness. Where are you? Where do you want to be in 20 years? What drives you? What excites you? What are your strengths? What drains your energy? What is your purpose? What do you need to work on? How can you achieve your goals and evaluate yourself every year? How can you establish an effective system of creativity and productivity that works for you?
- Be clear and flexible in your definition of success in your life. This involves imagination and improvisation.
- The best moments in your life are when you voluntarily challenge your body or mind to its limits to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.
- Be willing to take a leap of faith and sail away from your comfort zone. Challenge yourself to new heights even if it feels risky. You have nothing to lose.
- You are probably overthinking and under-doing. Scare yourself every day and jump into action.
- Figure out the smallest action point to go forward. What is the minimum viable step? How can you pivot? What is your next experiment and action? Can you invent new ways of going forward? Identify the smallest, tiny miny action you can take now. Do it.
- Follow your desires, interests, and excitements. See where they lead you to.
- Ask yourself the following questions: Am I living the best life that I can live? Am I actualizing my full potential?
- Seek joy, curiosity, and adventure in your professional life. What if you had multiple lives that are more colorful, adventurous, and entrepreneurial? How can you design fresh possibilities in your career?
- Talk to yourself positively to build your self-confidence and calm your brain (You are amazing. You did very well today. You will be wildly successful. You will create fascinating assets. You are creative.)
- Be willing to embarrass yourself and fail lots of times. Stop taking yourself too seriously.
- Do not get discouraged if you have failed. You do have a good story to tell now — work on your story and try to make it reflective/positive.
- Every failure is to be cherished and regarded as a learning opportunity. Treat each failure as an instrumental stepping stone and a great learning opportunity. How can you bounce back and rise from your own ashes? Create strategies for bouncing back.
- You need freedom in your career and freedom starts with your curiosity. Be curious and learn beyond borders/disciplines. Astonish and scare yourself every day.
- Combine your artistic passions, entrepreneurial ambitions, and intellectual pursuits to create fresh ideas and content.
- Act like a hero of your life. Establish games where you excel.
- Hang in there, keep working, and try to turn it into play. Be more open to playing and messing around. You do not have to get it right the first time, you can iterate, improvise, and improve along the way.
- Make a list of all the things you might regret not doing after 20 years. Take a small action every day for these things.
- Develop a mindful and present mind where you give full attention to the current moment and task at hand.
- Be mindful of the times you find your mind wandering or if you are tempted to check your email or social media. Make sure you focus on your goals and the tasks at hand.
- Your goals should be challenging, but still doable. View hardships as opportunities to expand and grow yourself. Do not ever lose hope. Everything will be eventually OK.
- Do not compare yourself to others. This is your journey and yours alone. Compete with only your former self and no one else. Are you getting better every day?
- Stick to a routine and be consistent with your routine. Treat your routine as sacred, as it is a form of self-respect.
- Keep improving and compound yourself. Will you get better every day? Will you keep creating better writing every day? As James Altucher suggests, if you improve at anything 1% per day, by the end of the year you’ll become better at it by 37 times (1.⁰¹³⁶⁵ = 37.7834343329).
- Imagine your workday is just two hours so that you are mindful and strategic with your time. Be ruthless about your priorities and do not have more than three priorities on a given day.
- Be involved in creative activities that will refresh and revitalize you. Make sure you have joy in your life.
- The secret is to act now. Whatever you want from life, you need to take an action for it right now. Start small and do it now.
- Focus on what makes you weird, unique, and wonderful. You are the hero of your life, so act like it. Aim for 100% of your best self.
It is your turn now. Find 16 long-term ideas to create the future life that you desire.
