Bitcoin will once again be in the spotlight when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. chooses a cryptocurrency conference in Miami as the venue for his first public appearance as a US presidential candidate.
The iconaclastic Democrat has shown support for an economic sector that many ecologists and other climate change activists blame for much of the problem.
At the conference, Bitcoin will be one of the main talking points that attendees are expecting.
Before taking the stage at the event, dubbed the “world’s largest bitcoin event,” skeptics had already voiced concerns about the cryptocurrency industry’s role in contributing to climate change.
Kennedy, the Bitcoin supporter
Despite these concerns, Kennedy is a vocal supporter of the industry and his attendance at the event is critical as it gives him the opportunity to engage with a significant segment of the voting population.
It was a smart move by Kennedy to agree to speak at the Bitcoin 2023 conference because it gives him the opportunity to associate with a significant portion of his supporters and perhaps new ones as well.

And while many Democrats may not share his views on cryptocurrencies, he could win voters’ millions of loyal customers.
Brandon Green, chief of staff at conference organizer BTC Media said:
“We asked him to speak after hearing his positive comments about the bitcoin industry.”
Bitcoin: An important “lifesaver” and “innovation engine”
It is crucial that Kennedy attend the conference along with other political figures such as Republican presidential nominee Vivek Ramaswamy, Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, Hawaiian former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, and the governor of Indonesia will be West Java Province.
Green announced that Kennedy will not receive payment for his participation. In addition, Kennedy’s publicist Stefanie Spear stated that the presidential hopeful would not accept speaking honoraria for events that took place during his 2024 presidential bid.
According to Kennedy, the company surrounding Bitcoin is “a great engine of innovation” that has the potential to be used in the fight against authoritarian governments.
In addition, he defended bitcoin on the grounds that it facilitates transactions outside the purview of central authorities. The king of cryptocurrencies is, in his words, a “lifesaver for people’s movements around the world.”
However, ecologists who see Bitcoin as a major contributor to the global warming phenomenon have doubts about its perspective. Concerns about the energy consumption of the cryptocurrency sector have been raised by a significant number of environmental groups.

In 2021, Bitcoin mining alone was responsible for consuming more energy than all of Argentina.
Meanwhile, Anthony Scaramucci, a billionaire cryptocurrency backer who briefly served as former President Donald Trump’s communications chief, believes Kennedy’s endorsement of cryptocurrencies could bring him closer to the hearts of millions of dedicated cryptocurrency users.
