Will Bitcoin Reach $1 Million by 2028? Experts argue about bold price prediction

Tuur Demeester, a Bitcoin evangelist, recently shared his views on Bitcoin's potential to reach $1 million by 2028. Demeester's view on the subject represents a cautious contrast to some of the more optimistic predictions in the crypto community.

This dovish perspective comes as others, like Samson Mow, express great confidence in Bitcoin's ability to reach this milestone after its next halving.

Bitcoin worth $1 million by 2028 is not safe

Demeester's skepticism was expressed in response to a post sharing a graphic from investor Fred Krueger that suggested Bitcoin could reach $1,000,000 by 2028.

While Demeester appreciated the chart's model, he expressed his uncertainty, acknowledging the unpredictability of the market and its ability to defy even the best-constructed models.

Will it take until after summer 2028 for BTC to reach $1 million? I don't know, but I do know that every beautiful model (like this one 🤌) is destined to be destroyed by Mr. Market. https://t.co/GcmhfL2C16

The expectation that the price of BTC will reach $1 million is closely related to the halving events that occur approximately every four years. After this year's halving, the next halving is scheduled to take place in 2028. These events reduce the number of new BTC mined per block by half, limiting supply and potentially impacting price.

The upcoming halving, scheduled for April this year, will see Bitcoin's daily minting reduced from 900 to 450 coins. Such changes in supply have historically caused significant price movements, lending credence to the various models that predict significant future price increases.

Amidst these predictions, an X user chimed in with insights, claiming ownership of the growth curve that Demeester mentioned. They argued that some market laws, such as the time value of money in the stock market, are less likely to be broken.

Likewise, Bitcoin’s natural adoption rate could limit its “explosive” growth and create room for market movement without destroying the underlying model.

Hello Tuur, this plot is mine. Some laws are not broken by Mr. Market, e.g. B. the stock market grows at ~7% per year. This cannot be broken upwards due to the time value of money (essentially).
The time-based power law is also difficult to break upwards because that would…

Different views on the future of Bitcoin

Other Bitcoin enthusiasts like Samson Mow, CEO of Jan3, are more optimistic. Mow expects Bitcoin to reach $1 million, potentially leading to a sudden surge that will cause “maximum pain” to several market participants.

He suggests this dramatic increase could occur quickly, within “days or weeks,” although the exact starting point remains uncertain.

My main prediction is that the increase to $1 million will occur within days or weeks. The starting point will be announced later.

When analyzing potential triggers for a Bitcoin rally, Mow considers various factors. This includes Bitcoin-specific metrics such as exchange-traded inflows (ETF), BTC hashrate and whale activity on Bitfinex. In addition, Mow examines broader economic indicators such as Tether's USDT assets under management, government debt payments, and debt-to-GDP ratios.

These are the #Bitcoin macro indicators I'm looking at:

⬆️ ETF inflows
⬆️ Hashrate
⬆️ Accumulation of Finex whales
⬆️ 200 WMA trending
⬆️ Tether USDt AUM
⬆️ Government interest payments on debt
⬆️ Debt to GDP ratios
⬆️ National adoption of Bitcoin
⬆️ Real inflation
⬆️ M3 money

Mow believes that these factors, combined with nation-state takeover, real inflation rates and the M3 money supply, could significantly impact Bitcoin's performance.

Amid the debate, Bitcoin saw quite a surge in the last 24 hours, reclaiming the $43,000 mark, with a current trading price of $43,123.
