Valkyrie recently filed a Form 497 outlining its plan to convert its existing Bitcoin Technique Exchange Traded Fund (BTF) into a dual Bitcoin and Ether Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) on Oct. 3.
Financial experts are questioning the decision to convert the current futures fund rather than start an entirely new company. Observers speculate that the regulatory procedures of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) make it impossible to deviate from the deadline.
Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas compares Valkyrie’s move to that of the first marijuana ETF, MJ, which also aimed to gain market share.
INTERESTING: Valkyrie just submitted a 497 that they plan to convert $BTF to a Bitcoin + Ether ETF on October 3rd, which would be two weeks ahead of the other 13 submitters’ scheduled launch. We’ll see if that works. Something similar happened back then with $MJ, the first pot ETF https://t.co/Ypnien30ED pic.twitter.com/W9WiU2xc0W

Valkyrie vs Blackrock
The decision follows BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF proposal, which was approved by the SEC on July 13. The regulator’s increased focus on ETF proposals bodes well, especially in the bitcoin sector.
Valkyrie’s Bitcoin (BTC) Miners ETF is the leading cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) in 2023. As of July 27, the fund has $24 million in assets under management and has returned a staggering 261% year-to-date.
Valkyrie, led by CEO Leah Wald, would be the first fund to thrive if the SEC gave it the green light. Other contenders include ProShares, VanEck, Grayscale and Bitwise.
The early launch of the Bitcoin and Ether ETF is an exciting development for the market as the cryptocurrency sector evolves.
The ETF trend of the year reflects the rising popularity of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets. The growth of cryptocurrencies in 2023 is reflected in all of the year’s top 10 ETFs focusing on them. This match shows once again how promising ETFs are in the cryptocurrency market.
BlackRock, ARK Invest, Fidelity Investments, WisdomTree, VanEck and Invesco are currently bidding for a spot Bitcoin ETF.
