Unprecedented Growth in Bitcoin Holders Confirms Rising Popularity of BTC – CryptoMode

As the world of cryptocurrencies continues to revolutionize financial systems around the world, an intriguing trend is gripping the sector: the number of Bitcoin (BTC) address holders is growing at an unprecedented pace, reaching an all-time high of nearly 48 million. This surge is due to the increasing popularity of BTC ordinals, which recently surpassed the 20 million mark, another record-breaking success in the crypto space.

Uncovering the rise in the number of Bitcoin address holders

Blockchain data and information company Glassnode recently shed light on the changing landscape of the BTC market. The company Data announced an all-time high of 47,857,099 non-zero BTC addresses as of July 30. A significant increase from last year, when the number of such wallets stagnated at less than 40 million towards the end of 2022.

The start of 2023 marked a sharp increase in the number of BTC address holders, in contrast to the bleak second half of 2022. The second half of the year was marked by significant disruptions in the crypto world, including the infamous FTX crash, which significantly impacted investor sentiment.

Addresses with small and large amounts of bitcoin

To add to the narrative, Glassnode pointed out another interesting statistic. The number of BTC addresses with more than 0.01 coins (equivalent to about $300 at current rates) shot to a record high of over 12.2 million.

At the same time, there has also been a notable increase in the number of “wholecoiners”, i.e. wallets that contain at least one full bitcoin. These addresses surpassed the one million mark, supported by a strong rally towards the end of 2022 and steady year-to-date growth.

The Unstoppable Rise of BTC Ordinals

The increasing importance of BTC ordinals adds another layer to the complex web of the Bitcoin ecosystem. The number of inscriptions associated with these assets is currently at an all-time high of 20,753,049. Data from Dune Analytics highlights July as a particularly lively month, mirroring record-breaking interest in April and May of the same year.

This uptick in BTC ordinals has sparked debate in the crypto community, with many arguing that this rise underpins a growing interest in harnessing the capabilities of the Bitcoin blockchain. One group benefiting from this trend in particular is BTC miners, who have seen a significant increase in fees during this period of heightened interest.

Current trends in the bitcoin market signal a new era for cryptocurrencies, one characterized by growing adoption, increased participation, and potential for unprecedented growth.
