Uniswap Foundation Seeks $62.37 Million to Develop Ecosystem | CryptoTvplus

The Uniswap Foundation has submitted a $62.37 million funding request needed to strengthen the development and growth of the Uniswap ecosystem and consolidate its role as a leading player in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector.

Uniswap is a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange based on the Ethereum blockchain. It is a leading decentralized exchange that enables peer-to-peer market making and allows users to trade cryptocurrencies without going through a centralized third party.

It uses a series of smart contracts (liquidity pools) to execute trades on its exchange, enabling automated transactions between cryptocurrency tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.

The Uniswap Foundation is a non-profit organization supporting the development and growth of the Uniswap Protocol, a decentralized exchange for exchanging cryptocurrency tokens on Ethereum and other popular blockchains.

The foundation’s responsibilities include overseeing the Uniswap treasury, which is used to fund protocol development and promote the growth of the broader Uniswap ecosystem.

The dual purpose of the fund

The funds requested serve a dual purpose. First, they will support the daily operations of the foundation, ensuring the continued growth and stability of the Uniswap platform.

Secondly, a significant portion of the funds will be allocated to strengthening the Uniswap ecosystem. This includes supporting developers and providing research grants, as well as encouraging innovation in the DeFi space.

As of the application deadline of September 27, 2023, the foundation has an impressive track record. It has built over 180 million user accounts and facilitated more than 6 billion transactions. Additionally, the total value (TVL) in the Uniswap ecosystem has reached an impressive $15.41 billion.

The foundation notes that Uniswap governance had previously approved $74 million in funding for the Uniswap Foundation. It added that the decision was made to split this funding request into two streams as the second, $62.37 million, is requested via on-chain voting.

The aim of the on-chain process is to make financing in the DeFi ecosystem easier and quicker to implement.
