Twitter Adds Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) Price Charts to Search Feature in Latest Push for Adoption
Social media giant Twitter is adding Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) price charts to its search functionality.
In a new thread, Twitter says it’s rolling out a new feature called “$Cashtags,” which also includes price charts for other assets like stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The supplement grants users access to an asset’s price chart simply by typing its name or ticker into Twitter’s search function. Additionally, all tweets that contain a stock, crypto, or ETF symbol preceded by a “$” contain a clickable link that leads to stock charts.
In terms of cryptocurrencies, however, only the charts of the two leading digital assets are currently available via this method, although Twitter plans to expand access in the coming weeks, although no specific assets have been named.
“If you Tweet a major stock, ETF, or cryptocurrency symbol with a ‘$’ in front of it (like $BTC), people on Twitter will see a clickable link that will take them to the search results. As of today, these search results include the price charts for the most important symbols.
You can also search for icons directly without clicking a link within a tweet. Most symbols with and without the $ sign will work in the search (QQQ or $QQQ). In the coming weeks we will be refining the user experience and expanding our icon coverage.”
According to Twitter CEO and billionaire Elon Musk, who recently announced he will be stepping down as the social media platform’s chief executive once a suitable replacement is found, the addition is one of many new improvements Twitter will see.
“One of many product improvements for financial Twitter!”
