Despite the market fluctuations, Bitcoin is once again in the spotlight as it prepares for a possible rise in value. With just two months left until the highly anticipated halving, investors are preparing for what could be a significant upside in the market.
The reason for the excitement is a remarkable statistic: 95% of all Bitcoin buyers are currently sitting on profits. This impressive figure highlights the resilience and profitability of the world's leading cryptocurrency despite periodic fluctuations in value.
In a recent YouTube video, an analyst from Altcoin Daily shed light on the real reason behind the Bitcoin pump and shared his opinion on the recent regulatory mess.
Understanding Bitcoin ETF metrics
According to the analyst, the recent rise in Bitcoin prices is mainly due to developments in exchange traded funds (ETFs). Four Bitcoin ETFs, including those from industry giants such as BlackRock, Fidelity, ARK Invest and Bitwise, have attracted significant attention and are among the top 25 ETFs of all time. On February 9 alone, these ETFs saw net inflows of over $400 million. BlackRock's IBIT, the first spot BTC ETF to reach $2 billion in assets, posted a notable 2.75% increase.
According to Lookonchain data, the main contributors to this increase were BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, which added 4,489 BTC ($212.9 million), and Fidelity, which added 2,820 BTC ($133.7 million). This increased investor interest is reflected in Bitcoin's market performance, with prices rising over 5.7% today to reach local highs of $47,650.
It is noteworthy that Bitcoin ETFs are showing exceptional performance compared to previous releases. Unlike traditional ETFs, Bitcoin ETFs have steadily attracted investors since their launch. This exceptional performance shows that the market is maturing and more long-term investors are entering the space.
Crypto faces further regulatory challenges
But amid the excitement, there are concerns on the horizon. The proposed legislation, spearheaded by Senator Elizabeth Warren, threatens to cast a shadow over the crypto market's bright prospects. The Digital Asset Anti-Money Laundering Act, also known as Senate Bill 2669, aims to subject cryptocurrencies to strict financial reporting requirements similar to those applicable to traditional financial institutions.
Critics argue that such regulations could hinder crypto growth. Perianne Boring, CEO and founder of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, warns that the bill could effectively ban cryptocurrencies by placing inconvenient compliance burdens on miners and wallet providers.
Bitcoin tests $47,000?
After hovering around $43,000 for about a week, Bitcoin rose above $45,000 yesterday morning, marking the first move above that level since January's declines following ETF approval. After a slight decline, BTC continued its upward trend in the early Asian trading hours on Friday and reached a monthly high of $46,750.
