After Bitcoin rose an impressive 150% in 2023, the crypto world is eagerly speculating about what 2024 could mean for the flagship cryptocurrency.

As the new year begins, a series of predictions from industry experts sets the stage for another rollercoaster year. The experts' predictions are as diverse as they are bold, ranging from a conservative $60,000 to a staggering $500,000.

From cautious to sky-high: Bitcoin predictions for 2024

The year 2024 begins with a flood of Bitcoin price predictions. Veteran investor Mark Mobius is predicting a modest $60,000, while other industry heavyweights such as Bit Mining and CoinShares are slightly more optimistic with predictions of $75,000 and $80,000 respectively.

The optimism doesn't stop there – Nexo, Standard Chartered and academic Carol Alexander are all in the $100,000 camp.

Matrixport goes one better with a forecast of $125,000. Meanwhile, venture capitalist Tim Draper continues to stick to his $250,000 forecast.

But the award for most optimistic prediction goes to CoinFund, which has predicted that Bitcoin could rise to a staggering $500,000.

A potential game changer for 2024

A key discussion point for Bitcoin's potential growth in 2024 is the highly anticipated approval of a Bitcoin ETF. MicroStrategy's Michael Saylor sees this as a defining moment for Bitcoin, possibly the biggest shakeup on Wall Street in decades.

With heavyweights like BlackRock and Cathie Wood's Ark Invest in the race to launch a Bitcoin ETF, the stakes are high. ETF analyst James Seyffart identified early January as a critical window for possible SEC approval, sending the crypto community into a frenzy.

This optimism comes with caution – analysts at CryptoQuant have warned of a possible “sell the news” scenario that could see Bitcoin price plummet to $32,000 following ETF approval. However, Blockstream CEO Adam Back believes this will not be the case.
