Billy Markus, who co-founded Dogecoin with Jackson Palmer in 2013, took to Twitter to comment on Bitcoin’s price. He explained that it could still reach the long-held goal of $100,000. Markus is known on Twitter under the pseudonym “Shibetoshi Nakamoto”.
However, his tweet was rather tongue-in-cheek when explaining what he sees as the main driver for Bitcoin.
Markus trolls crypto players
Billy Markus tweeted that “there is still time for bitcoin to reach $100,000” in 2023. In the comment thread, he added that the year 2022, which is about to end, has shown him that bitcoin is neither a store of value is still an inflation hedge.
Based on the events of this year, Markus believes that BTC is primarily “a speculative toy for gamblers and scammers.” Apparently that’s why he posted his tongue-in-cheek tweet a day before the end of 2022.
At the time of writing, the flagship digital currency is trading at $16,570.

Tim Draper still bets Bitcoin at $250,000
For the past three years, renowned venture investor Tim Draper has predicted that Bitcoin will surge to $150,000 by 2023. He explained this bet with the rapid pace of BTC’s global spread.
He later increased his stake to $250,000 per BTC. Recently, U.Today reported that the investor is still sticking to his forecast of $250,000, but now he expects this massive price increase to happen in the next year.
