The NFT platform introduces the classic Nintendo 64 emulator on the Bitcoin blockchain with BTC ordinals
A non-fungible token (NFT) platform is launching a classic Nintendo emulator for Bitcoin (BTC) using BTC atomic numbers.
In a new announcement, NFT platform Pizza Ninjas says it has successfully launched an N64 emulator on the crypto king that uses ordinal numbers that inscribe data on Satoshis, the smallest unit of BTC.
Emulators allow gamers to play video game consoles on other devices without having to own or operate the console itself.
According to Pizza Ninjas, by using Google's Brotli compression method, they are able to label increasingly larger items.
“Enrolling a larger system like N64 and its games is more realistically feasible than before. Brotli compression allows file size to be reduced by around 80%. Take the legendary Goldeneye 64 for example. It is 12.4 MB uncompressed, but with Brotli we can reduce it to 3.15 MB!
This is enough to fit it into 1 Bitcoin block (4MB) or split it into 8 transactions less than 400KB. And network fees are now the lowest we've seen since Ordinals launched. Enrolling at currently 15 sats/Vbyte would only cost $6,000.
Completely reasonable for a gaming community that has a vested interest in ensuring that these classic games are preserved forever.”
According to data collection platform Statista, the Nintendo 64 was released in 1996 and sold over 30 million units over its lifetime.
In January, the classic first-person shooter Doom, which pits players against demons on Mars, was listed on Dogecoin (DOGE) with “doginals,” the meme asset’s own version of the BTC atomic number.
