The Brazilian collective is organizing an “airdrop hunt week” made up of nine different projects

The Brazilian collective Modular Crypto is hosting its “Airdrop Week” from November 6th to 11th. Through live broadcasts on YouTube, Modular members perform tasks they deem necessary to participate in nine different cryptocurrency airdrops.

Airdrops are events that distribute tokens from a cryptocurrency market project, such as new blockchains or applications. The purpose of airdrops is to reward users who interacted with these projects in the early stages.

The “hunt” for airdrops became popular after projects such as Optimism (OP), Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Celestia (TIA) and Blur (BLUR) significantly rewarded their users for relatively small efforts.

“Imagine making thousands of reais overnight. This may seem too good to be true, but the crypto world is one of the few places where you are rewarded for trying new protocols,” says João Kury, co-founder of the Modular Crypto collective. “Uniswap, Arbitrum, ENS and Optimism are some of the big names in the crypto market that have airdropped early adopters of their protocols,” he adds.

Kury explains that although the number of interactions and transaction volume are generally followed by different protocols, the rewards vary depending on the criteria set in the protocols. As an example, he cites the airdrop of TIA, a native token of the modular blockchain Celestia, which took place in the last week of October.

“Celestia, a modular blockchain, has carried out its airdrop, rewarding some users with more than R$3,000 just for carrying out some transactions in the largest layer 2 [blockchains de segunda camada] of Ethereum until January 31, 2023,” he explains.

However, the maturation of the market has added criteria that are more difficult to meet, emphasizes Kury. Airdrop Week is an initiative to guide users seeking airdrops within the possible new criteria used by the protocols.

Between November 6th and 11th at 7 p.m., Airdrop Week will cover nine different airdrops: LayerZero, Linea, Base, zkSync, Starknet, Zora, DeBank, Scroll and Mantle.

In addition, according to the announcement, the amount from the first airdrop received in the wallet used by Modular during the airdrop week will be divided among the top ten players in the tasks created by the collective for that week.

“During a long period of bear market, many projects did not conduct airdrops as the overall market was down. But that seems to be changing,” concludes Kury.
