Tech mogul Jack Dorsey doubles down on bitcoin, says BTC a global standard for money transfer: report

Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has stood by his belief in the leading crypto-asset, Bitcoin (BTC), saying it will eventually become the global standard for money transfer and the internet’s native currency.

According to a new report from CNBC, the CEO of payments platform Block is outlining how the company’s future will reflect his confidence in the leading digital asset by market cap.

The former Twitter exec says Block will no longer be known just as a payments platform, with plans to integrate Bitcoin more in the future.

Describing the top crypto asset by market cap as the “open standard for global money transfer,” Dorsey said it would allow Block’s operations to move much faster, according to CNBC.

“[Bitcoin’s] Development may feel slow compared to other candidates, but that’s a result of the thought required to preserve the attributes needed to store and transfer money.

[The] The internet needs its own currency, and when you look at the entire ecosystem of technologies to fill that role, it’s clear that Bitcoin is the only candidate right now.”

Block has expanded its bitcoin-related offerings by partnering with Cash App to offer BTC trading and launching an open-source development platform called TBD for crypto engineers.

The company also released details for a new Bitcoin hardware wallet earlier this year.

Bitcoin is changing hands at $29,126 as of this writing, up 8.3% from its seven-day low of $26,910.
