Spectrum Markets (“Spectrum”), the pan-European securitized derivatives trading venue, has published its third quarterly business update of the year, reporting a stable positive performance despite the challenges presented by declining equity markets and the broader inflation landscape.
The order backlog in the third quarter increased by 10% year-on-year to 921 million euros, making it the second best quarter to date. During the same period, trading volume increased by 5%, with a total of 421 million securitized derivatives traded on the venue from July to September 2023, compared to 401 million in the same period last year.
This underlines the Company’s continued growth trajectory as it has expanded its product offering and welcomed more European retail investors to trade on Spectrum, including those joining via new members and other partnerships initiated during the year.
Since its last business update in July 2023, Spectrum has announced two major initiatives, including a partnership with independent Italian retail broker Directa, which became its newest member, giving more retail investors the opportunity to trade securitized derivatives on Spectrum 24 hours a day, five days a week Week.
In addition, Société Générale, a member of Spectrum since 2022, has expanded the geographical availability of some of the daily constant leverage and vanilla warrant products listed on the trading venue to Italy.
These announcements reflect the success of Spectrum’s continued growth strategy and represent a new source of trading volume for the trading venue, which continues to be consolidated into deeper pan-European liquidity pools thanks to Spectrum’s innovative, single pan-European product ISIN.
“We are pleased to announce another positive quarter of year-over-year growth and underscore Spectrum’s progress in volume and revenue,” said Nicky Maan, CEO of Spectrum Markets. “I am particularly pleased with the initiatives we announced last quarter and look forward to announcing further developments that will strengthen our growth ambitions for the venue as we look to the end of the year and beyond.”
“Despite the greater market uncertainty we have seen in recent months, we remain committed to continually providing our members and their retail clients with the best possible trading experience, exploring new partnerships, expanding our offering and further developing our plug and play. “Trade infrastructure across Europe,” he adds.
