Satoshi-era wallet comes to life ahead of halving, BTC to $100,000?

In a surprising turn of events, an 11.7-year-old dormant Bitcoin (BTC) wallet suddenly came back to life. The Bitcoin whale transferred a whopping 500 BTC, equivalent to a staggering $34.78 million, to several new wallets. The move comes just ahead of the Bitcoin halving, which is expected to push BTC price above $100,000. Therefore, the re-entry of the dormant Bitcoin whale represents a major development.

Dormant Bitcoin Whale Makes Massive Transfers

The wallet in question from the Satoshi Nakamoto era first received the 500 BTC on July 14, 2012. At the time, Bitcoin was worth just $7.57, making the initial investment worth a modest $3,786. Furthermore, it suggests a 920,000% gain and the recent transfer could accelerate Bitcoin price movement.

Additionally, this unexpected activity has caused excitement in the crypto community, especially considering that it occurred just days before the highly anticipated April halving. The halving event, which occurs approximately every four years, results in a reduction in the reward for mining new blocks on the Bitcoin blockchain.

In the past, these events have been associated with significant increases in the price of Bitcoin. Therefore, the latest transfer is a strategic move in anticipation of a possible Bitcoin price rally. Previously, Robert Kiyosaki, a renowned investor, suggested that BTC value could reach $100,000 as early as September 2024.

Additionally, Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley confirmed the bullish sentiment as he believes that the halving will play a crucial role in the price increase. However, the recent transfer could indicate a possible sell-off at current prices or at an appreciation price. In either case, the Bitcoin price could crash from recent highs.

BTC price experiences volatility

Bitcoin price fluctuates between the red and green candles as it experiences extreme volatility. At press time, BTC price increased by 0.50% to $70,024.40 on Saturday, March 30. The market valuation was now $1.38 trillion.

In contrast, the 24-hour trading volume for BTC fell by 25.87% to $22.85 billion. Yet despite the upswing and downturn frenzy, Bitcoin price returns for the month are over 12%. Additionally, Ali Martinez, a popular crypto analyst, suggested that a breakout from the bull flag is underway for Bitcoin, which could push the price to a new all-time high of $77,000.

According to Coinglass, long positions dominate market liquidations with $15.09 million worth of BTC liquidated. This could lead to a price drop, although a short squeeze could also compensate for the fall. Currently, short traders have liquidated $13.70 million worth of BTC in the last 24 hours, giving tough competition to long traders.
