With up to 430 Wp in less than two square meters, the new REC Alpha Pure-R hits the sweet spot in terms of performance, size, weight and handling. REC’s latest module innovation builds on the lead-free and RoHS-compliant REC Alpha Pure series, which just won the prestigious Intersolar Award 2022.
MUNICH, May 12, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — REC Group, a leading international solar energy company headquartered in Norway, unveiled its latest high-efficiency solar module in the multi-award-winning REC Alpha family at Intersolar Europe 2022. The REC Alpha Pure was introduced just two days ago April 2021, won the Intersolar Award 2022. With large G12 format heterojunction (HJT) cells in a patented panel design, REC’s latest product delivers an output power of up to 430 Wp with a module area of less than two square meters. This makes the new product ideal for residential installations with limited space. The REC Alpha Pure-R is scheduled to go into production in 2017 Aug 2022 in the new production lines of REC in Singaporedoubling the capacity of REC’s Alpha product line from 600 MW to 1.2 GW.
Intersolar Europe 2022: REC launches the new world’s highest-performing residential solar panel with G12 HJT cells
G12 wafers and cells in a compact form factor
At 210 x 210 mm, the G12 wafers and cells are larger and therefore put out more power. However, most of the resulting panels are significantly larger, which is why G12 solar panels have so far been used primarily in large commercial and utility installations. With REC’s new panel design, the Alpha Pure-R shows that G12 is also well suited for rooftop installations in residential buildings.
Jan Enno BickerCEO of the REC Group, comments: “The REC Alpha Pure-R really hits the sweet spot in size, weight, performance and handling. With the new panel, we have once again managed to pack more power into a compact panel size, making homeowners more energy independent and contributing to the global energy transition.”
The story goes on
Innovations for maximum energy
The REC Alpha Pure-R comes with a current rating of 9 amps, making it compatible with various modern MLPE devices, giving installers more system design options to maximize performance for homeowners. Also new, the four-piece junction box takes REC’s iconic twin design a step further, dividing the panel into four strands and reducing the size of the sections that turn off in shady conditions. This allows the panel to generate even more energy in partial shading.
Hit the sweet spot
The new REC Alpha Pure-R achieves 430 Wp in a compact panel size of 1.93 m², which means it comes with a leading power density of 223 W/m² and is easy for installers to handle. Building on the success of the REC Alpha and Alpha Pure series, the new panel features 80 half-cut HJT cells in a gapless cell layout. This makes it possible to maximize the power generation area of the panel and provides an elegant all-black appearance. Advanced cell connection technology improves current flow and eliminates invasive soldering, contributing to high efficiency and long-lasting performance. In addition, the low temperature coefficient ensures that the solar panel runs efficiently even on hotter days, generating more energy for households. This makes it ideal for warmer climates or to generate as much energy as possible on sunny days. REC’s iconic 30mm frame with its two support rods makes the panel robust enough to withstand heavy loads – up to 7,000 pascals of snow load and up to 4,000 pascals of wind load.
Added value for the environment too
The new panel showcases many of the outstanding highlights that have made the REC Alpha family such a success and reinforces REC’s reputation as a company that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously. Like its predecessor, the REC Alpha Pure, the new panel is lead-free and RoHS compliant for less environmental impact. After receiving the Intersolar Award 2020 for the REC Alpha series, this year’s jury confirmed that the REC Alpha Pure is one of the very few lead-free solar modules on the market and therefore a deserved winner of the award.
