Over the past year, Bitcoin’s market cap has slipped from the 8th most valuable asset in the world to the 26th – Markets and Prices Bitcoin News

In November 2021, Bitcoin’s market valuation managed to make it into the top ten list of assets ranked by market cap as it was the eighth largest market cap on November 9th last year. Since then, Bitcoin is 75% lower in value than Bitcoin The US dollar and the market cap of the leading crypto asset has fallen to the 26th largest position among the most valuable assets and companies worldwide.

Bitcoin’s market cap is just below Chevron’s and just above Home Depot’s market valuations

Just over a year ago, in November 2021, the Bitcoin (BTC) market cap was the eighth largest of a variety of companies and assets traded around the world. Back on November 9th, 2021, an archive.org snapshot collected by companiesmarketcap.com shows that the market valuation of BTC was $1.289 trillion as each unit traded for just over $68,000.

On that day, BTC’s market cap was below the overall valuation of the precious metal, silver, which was $1.380 trillion on November 9, 2021. The leading crypto asset was just above Tesla’s market valuation of $1.167 trillion, recorded 395 days ago. Additionally, Ethereum (ETH) was among the top 20 positions of assets ranked by market cap as ETH held the 15th largest market cap as of November 9, 2021.

At the time, ETH’s market valuation was around $570.45 billion, as Ether was trading at $4,839 per unit. Ethereum’s market cap was below that of Tencent, which had a market valuation of around $588.07 billion. The market cap of the second-largest crypto-asset was above JPMorgan Chase’s valuation, which was $499.61 billion 395 days ago.

Today, December 9, 2022, the top two crypto assets, BTC and ETH, have much lower valuations than they did a year ago. Bitcoin does not feature in the top ten asset rankings by market cap as it is now in the top 30 positions and ranks 26th. The $331.76 billion market cap that BTC holds today is just under Chevron’s market cap of around $335.56 billion.

Additionally, Bitcoin’s market cap is just above the overall market valuation of Home Depot, which was valued at $330.30 billion on Dec. 9. Ethereum has slipped sharply from the 15th largest position as it now ranks 72nd with a market cap of around $155.25 billion. Ether’s market cap is below that of United Parcel Service (UPS) at $155.36 billion and just above Adobe’s valuation at $154.61 billion.

Ethereum’s current market price is approximately 73.7% lower than it was 395 days ago, on November 9, 2021. Although BTC and ETH have seen their market caps fall lower over the past year, the same is true for a large number of different assets and companies. In contrast, some assets, such as gold’s overall market valuation, have posted gains over the past 12 months. Gold’s cap was around $11.605 trillion in November 2021 and today it’s worth $11.910 trillion.

Microsoft was the second-biggest asset a year ago, but it’s now in third place as Microsoft’s valuation has fallen from $2.53 trillion to $1.844 trillion today. The market cap of Google or Alphabet was around $1.98 trillion, ranking fifth 395 days ago on November 9, 2021, and has dropped to $1.213 trillion on December 9, 2022. Silver’s position in the top ten list rose from seventh to fifth position, but the precious metal’s market cap still fell from $1.38 trillion to $1.316 trillion today.
