Instinet’s Chief Executive Officer for Asia sets out for new shores

Instinet’s Chief Executive Officer for Asia, Stuart Knowling, has left the company after serving in the position for the past five years.

As part of his role, Knowling managed Instinet’s Asian offices and focused on revenue generation and client relationships.

He also led the company’s front office coverage team and was a key decision maker in product development across trading venues, algorithmic trading and execution management systems.

“After 14 years with Instinet in Asia, it’s time for me to embark on something new.”

Knowling originally joined Instinet in 2010 and served as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for Asia for just over seven years.

Prior to that, he was Country Head for Instinet Australia, where he built the company’s operations in the country, including obtaining regulatory approvals and managing the establishment and hiring of companies.

Prior to Instinet Australia, Knowling spent six years at Deutsche Bank as Operations Manager and then Global Smartsource Executive.

“After 14 years at Instinet in Asia, it’s time for me to move on to something new,” Knowling said in a social media post announcing his departure.

“Since I came to set up our Australian business in 2008 we have all come a long way. I have enjoyed every minute of the journey and especially my last five years as CEO of the best team on the road. I leave the Instinet Asia team in excellent shape with a strong management team and a great customer and product pipeline to deliver.”

Instinet has not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.

Knowling hasn’t revealed where he’ll be moving next.
