Bitcoin price is up 27% since Peter Schiff called for the sell off

Bitcoin (BTC) has surpassed a number of expectations since the start of the year as it helped propel the combined crypto market cap above the psychologically important $1 trillion level. As the bitcoin price now trades at $22,887.88, it has surpassed the bearish predictions of its main critic Peter Schiff.

Earlier in the year, Schiff posited that the bullish momentum Bitcoin started the year with presented a perfect exit opportunity for its investors. As reported by U.Today, Schiff advised HODLers to sell their coins when they were trading at $18,000, as he stuck to his nearly decade-old stance that the coin’s price will eventually fall below that price point.

Investors who may have followed Peter Schiff’s sell-off call might be furious with the gold enthusiast at this point, considering the coin has grown by as much as 27% since that call. This was first revealed by bitcoin bull Peter McCormack, who directly quoted Schiff’s sell-off tweet.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is up more than 34.2% over the past 14 days to continue its positive growth streak for the year.

Bitcoin short-term outlook

There have been a number of positive predictions, attesting to the likelihood that Bitcoin will surge to new heights in the short-term. While the leading digital currency is known to still experience high levels of volatility across the board, many believe the current trading structure, as well as its technical indicators, is evidence that more price increases for the coin could be on the way.

Many predictions about Bitcoin have gone wrong in the past, and Peter Schiff takes comfort in the fact that even positive predictions don’t always come true.
