According to financial records, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. currently holds between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of bitcoins.
America’s next potential president is a bitcoiner
Kennedy, who is running as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States, has been a vocal supporter of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, even accepting campaign contributions in Bitcoin (BTC).
The 69-year-old politician and environmental advocate has publicly stated that despite his pro-blockchain stance, he is “not an investor” in the crypto market.
However, his claims appear to be at odds with information from a financial report he filed on June 30.
According to the filing, RFK Jr. owns between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of bitcoin in a brokerage account.
The report didn’t specify when it was purchased, nor how much was originally spent on the original investment.
Kennedy was one of the key players in introducing Bitcoin (BTC) to the country; He has clearly expressed his support for the cryptocurrency. In a June 2023 interview with the New York Post, he said that should he become president in 2024, his administration would issue policies to “support bitcoin and people’s freedom to manage their own wallets and nodes.”
As the 2024 US Presidential election race intensifies, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology have become an increasingly popular topic among interest groups and it remains to be seen how the market will react to the guaranteed twists and turns that will lead to the most anticipated recent presidential election.
Hours after CNBC ran an article about the filing, Kennedy’s campaign team contacted the publication, saying that the crypto investment belonged to RFK Jr.’s wife and the presidential nominee was “not involved in her investment decisions.”
