©Reuters. Vitalik Buterin: Ethereum miners shifting chains will not affect the merger
(CRYPTO:ETH) creator Vitalik Buterin is not impressed by miners moving to other blockchains.
What happened: “I don’t expect Ethereum to be really significantly damaged by another fork,” Buterin said in a webinar shown by Bloomberg on Saturday.
“In general, my impression of pretty much everyone I speak to in the Ethereum ecosystem is that they have been fully supportive of the proof-of-stake effort and the ecosystem has been pretty much in agreement on that.”
In fact, last month Buterin encouraged users who preferred proof-of-work over proof-of-stake to switch to the (CRYPTO:ETC) blockchain.
Outside of Ethereum, ETC has undoubtedly received the most merger-related attention. This becomes clear when you consider that the value of the asset has increased by 140% in the last month and the hash power of the network has increased to an all-time high of 30.34 TH/s, which means more miners are mining ETC.
Still, some crypto market participants have hinted that the Ethereum network could be the subject of another hard fork that would keep the proof-of-work mining consensus.

Buterin said those pushing for a post-merger proof-of-work ETH chain are “just trying to make a quick buck.”
“I’m sure there will be issues… if they want to fork, it’s up to them to mitigate those issues,” Buterin said during South Korea Blockchain Week, reported by CryptoSlate.
Price Action: ETH is trading at $1,731 at press time, up 2.84% according to data from Benzinga Pro.
