This crypto trading platform has certainly become a more household name in 2022. Coinbase has achieved great success exchanging billions of dollars in assets every day and became the first publicly traded exchange stock in the United States. In fact, Coinbase is busy enough to be the second largest crypto exchange in the world by transaction volume, just behind binance (BNB USD).
In addition, Coinbase has increased its awareness through clever campaigns. For example, it had one of the most talked about Super Bowl commercials with a bouncing QR code commercial. The commercial was a standout moment in the event’s crypto-heavy advertising roster and allowed the brand to penetrate even further into the mainstream.
Over the past year, Coinbase has also gone beyond the typical duties of a crypto exchange. His blog provides educational content that educates investors on topics such as yield farming and patent trolling.
However, it seems that the company is not done with the expansion. Today it embarks on a new adventure and brings non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to the big screen.
Coinbase wants to make Bored Ape Yacht Club film trilogy
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is perhaps the most well-known NFT collection in the world. BAYC’s 10,000 monkey tokens were launched about a year ago but have quickly become one of the most popular collections by trading volume. BAYC also enjoys a host of celebrity Yacht Club members including Mark Cuban, Jimmy Fallon and Eminem.
The rapid success of these iconic monkey tokens has enabled developers to rapidly expand the NFT ecosystem. Just last month, BAYC founders Yuga Laboratories announced a Bored Ape Metaverse to add to the incandescent collection. Now, with the help of Coinbase, the Bored Ape Yacht Club will head to Hollywood to keep up the pace. The company just announced plans to produce a Bored Ape Yacht Club film trilogy.
This news comes via Coinbase’s media arm, a project the company announced just last year. As part of the production, Coinbase is inviting Bored Ape token holders to submit their NFTs as potential characters in the films and allowing holders to write character descriptions for the casting department to review.
This film trilogy will be the most high-profile project from the company’s fledgling media arm, but COIN says it won’t be the last. It has plans in store for several other Yuga Labs NFT collections, including the Mutated Monkey Collection.
